Thursday, Eh?

Thanks, everyone, for your get well wishes - the Bag Lady appreciates them. She is still feeling under the weather (where did that expression come from, anyway? How does one get to be under the weather? And if you are feeling terrific, does that mean you are over the weather? Or would you be on top of the weather? But no, you are on top of things - no one ever says they are on top of the weather.....) The Bag Lady is NOT taking any cold medication, honest, but she thinks she may have to because the Vitamin C and echinacea, although they are probably helping, aren't working fast enough!

The Bag Lady spent most of the day yesterday trying to do some housework, but her energy levels are so low that most of her time was spent sitting and staring at the hell hole that used to be referred to as her closet. Somehow it has morphed into a catch-all storage area for all kinds of things totally unrelated to apparel. She was determined this week to Do Something About That Closet, until she came down with this dreadful illness. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is a quivering, jelly-like mass weak.

So she has managed to weed out a few things (one bag full of clothes to go to the thrift store), but still does not have the sparkling, well-organized closet that she was hoping for. At least she can see her clothes now. And will continue to peck away at organizing the rest of the junk valuable heirlooms she has stashed in there.

And that's all she has the energy right now to share with you. Hope all of you are well!

You tried to clean out a closet? While you weren't feeling well? No WONder you aren't getting better fast enough! Rest means Rest, not Organizing.

Oh, my. Sick and cleaning. Those two do not belong together.
Get well soon.

My cold is still hanging on too and I don't have the option of medicine:( Although I did try a Neti Pot the other night - it was... awful. But other people recommend it so highly so maybe you could try it? Drowning's fun!

Thanks, Miz - unfortunately... I am not. Damn it.

Mary Anne in Kentucky - believe me, with the amount I got done, most people would consider it resting! :)

dfLeah - Thanks. There is a lesson in there, somewhere.

Charlotte - you brave, brave girl! I would never try a Neti pot! I'm far too unco-ordinated for something like that. I hope you feel better soon! I still haven't taken anything stronger than Vitamin C and echinacea... but at least I have the option!

Poor Bag Lady! I hate cleaning even when I'm feeling good, never mind doing it while sick. :(

Organizing a closet is a trying circumstance in the best of conditions, so you have accomplished more than you give yourself credit for.

The term "under the weather":
Some people claim it was a nautical term from the 1850s, but it is really older than that. It actually dates back to around the 1820s, and the first uses of it in books seem to indicate that it referred to how the weather can affect our health.

Sorry I haven't found a better explanation for it. Either way, I hope you continue to recover!

You need to go lie down in another room where you don't have to look at the closet :)
Neo Citron and a nap. Stat.
I've had my cold for over 2 weeks now...it's lingering as sniffles and tickle-throat. I've decided to ignore it and see if it gets bored and goes away...I'm tempted to use the neti pot, but I'm convinced I'd drown...

JavaChick - So, I'm not the only one who feels that way about cleaning, eh?

Messymimi - I knew there was probably a perfectly good explanation for that expression, but was too lazy to look it up! Thanks!!

Geo - sadly, the other bedroom looks even worse! :) But I can always turn my back to the closet, right?
And the Neti Pot sounds like a suicide waiting to happen, as far as I am concerned!

I wanted to comment 4 hours ago. This was a hysterical post.
There, I feel better now.

POD - thank you! I'm glad you feel better now. Wish I did.

I have to agree with those who say: Take it easy!!

Hope you get some well-deserved rest and feel better soon!

the Bag Lady said...

Thanks, Crabby! Selfishly, I hope I feel better soon, too! :)

Oh for Baggie's sake.. stop trying to do stuff and look after yourself. And add garlic to the Vitamin C.

Now go nap!

the Bag Lady said...

Hilary - I always thought garlic was a "preventative" rather than a cure... take enough garlic and people stay away from you! :)

Sounds like you might be pushing it too hard. So many of my friends are coming down with the flu (not swine, thank heavens).. but any flu or cold is miserable to have and your body needs some down time. Take care of yourself!! HUGS

Thanks, Aleta! I will take it easy soon....

Sorry to hear you are still unwell. Good grief woman, cleaning closets? Give your head a shake...

Wide Lawns and Narrow Minds had a hilarious (gross) post on her husband's use of the neti-pot a while ago.

Sparrow - I'm afeared of Neti-Pots! A person could drown....

Wikipdeia entry for "under the weather":

" 'Under the Weather' is an alternative rock song performed by Scottish singer KT Tunstall. The song was written by Tunstall and Tommy D and produced by Steve Osborne for Tunstall's debut album Eye to the Telescope (2004). It was released as the album's fourth single on 5 December 2005. The song reached #39 on the UK Singles Chart, remaining on the chart for two weeks."

hmm... not sure that's ENTIRELY the entry I was expecting to find...

Or come close to getting a divorce!
Her hubby used the neti-pot. In the shower, per their agreement.
They went to the mall. She went and bought him a treat and sat down to wait where they said they'd meet up.

When he saw her sitting there with the treat on her lap, he bent down to hug her and the "stuff" the neti pot loosened but didn't remove came flooding out, coating her.
There aren't enough w's in eewwww.

Sparrow - I must have missed that post of hers, and she has removed it... I couldn't find it, anyway. Not that I need any more information..... you're right, there aren't enough w's in eeuuwwwwwwwww....
