Mud Season

The Bag Lady spent yesterday cleaning. She crawled up and down ladders and climbed on countertops and cleaned the tops of her kitchen cabinets (OMG, the greasy mess!!) and washed some walls and still isn't anywhere close to being finished..... sigh. Either her kitchen cupboards have somehow multiplied, or she is getting slower in her old age, because she doesn't seem to get nearly as much accomplished in twice as much time as it used to take.

And the cleaning products are not as good as they used to be, either. Mind you, the Bag Lady's eyesight isn't what it used to be, so if she misses a spot or two, she probably won't be able to see it anyway, so it all works out.

The weather has been fairly mild and mud season has arrived! Poor Princess has to have her feet wiped every time she comes in from outside. She is fairly compliant, though, and will lie down and wait patiently while her feet and belly are dried. She does know exactly how many feet she has, so the Bag Lady has to make sure she wipes each one completely before she moves on to the next because there's no going back! The Princess leaps up and runs as soon as she is released.

The Bag Lady has been faithfully checking cows every day, but so far there are no calves. Several of the cows look like they are getting very close - they just aren't ready yet. Which means the Bag Lady has nothing much to blog about! Rest assured, as soon as something exciting happens, she'll let you know!

In the meantime, with tomorrow being Good Friday, she may take a long weekend away from blogland, so Happy Easter/Passover to everyone!

Enjoy your holiday, Rupal!

Miz - I hear ya! Of course, it's still long-pants season around here, so not too worried about the forest on my legs yet!

Happy Easter/Passover! I so need to do a thorough cleaning especially in my kitchen. My kitties are the messiest eaters...

the Bag Lady said...

Missicat - thank heavens for my dog... she goes around and cleans up after the messy-eater cats! :)
Enjoy the weekend!

Happy Easter df Bag Lady.

You are not getting slower, the cleaning products are not as good as they used to be.

dfTerrie - Happy Easter to you, too! And thanks for backing me up!! They simply are not as effective, are they? (Either that, or my dirt is becoming more resistant....:))

Loved the story of the paw cleaning. I swear a little movie ran in my head while reading that! :) And here's to new cows by Easter!

At least you're doing the cleaning. I do not have the ambition. Commercial cleaning products are largely a waste of money. Vinegar, baking soda, and dishwashing liquid can get most things done.

I took my kids to the dairy farm yesterday for a tour (it's spring break!) and the best part was getting to see all their little baby calves. It made me all mushy!! They were sooooo cute! Anyhow, it made me think of you:)

Lucas - thanks! I am getting a little discouraged. Every morning I go out and look, but no babies yet. Sigh.

dfLeah - I generally use vinegar and/or baking soda, but ran out of soda....

Charlotte - isn't it funny how the blogging life spills over into real life?
And I am so looking forward to the calves... they are so cute!

That's funny, about the Princess knowing how many feet she has. I can just picture her counting in her mind, waiting for you to get to the last one...

Aha, now I see the usefulness of having cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling. I don't ahve to clean the tops of them!

And here I thought homebuilders in the 1950s were just crazy.

the Bag Lady said...

JavaChick - and I count them out loud, too! (Not that she needs that, believe me!)

BG - There definitely is something to be said for cupboards that go all the way to the ceiling!! Damned grease-traps, the tops of the cupboards!

Happy Easter!

You're reminding me of all the cleaning I have to do before my parents come to visit next week...eep.

Our dog wasn't so patient about thepaw cleaning...usually by the time we'd tracked her down after escapes in thehouse she'd cleaned them herself on the floor! Luckily our cats don't go outside...I'd hate to try and wash a cat's paws every day...they don't make a tube of polysporin big enough for that :)

the Bag Lady said...

Geo - that cracked me up - about there not being a tube of Polysporin big enough! I have actually wiped the cats' feet occasionally - when I could catch them....

Happy Easter!

Our dogs have to have their feet wiped, too, and they HATE it. They stand there and pick up each foot in turn, looking up at us with great big martyred eyes the whole time. It's actually really funny.

the Bag Lady said...

Marste - the Princess does that long-suffering thing, too. Especially if mud season goes on and on. She will flop down with a big sigh, and roll onto her side - very amusing.

Happy Easter!

I think all dogs feel put upon when people want to clean that perfectly good mud off their paws! Sibu can count too, when I clip his nails, he only wants me to clip three paws - he pulls the fourth one out of my hand every time.

Happy Easter. I wish I celebrated but I have forgotten how. I'm okay with it.
I'm kind of standing back and looking at Easter in the big stores as someone who doesn't celebrate Christmas and seeing the stunning array of Easter-related junk imported from Taiwan. It's interesting.
Not that you asked.
Have a great holiday weekend.

Spring cleaning...what a concept...

Happy Easter BL!!!

I'm afraid to look on my cupboard top! I can relate to cleaning the paws. My fox, Bonzerelli does the same, and if you don't clean them well, he's gone! I hope I can move that fast when and if I get to be that old. (14 years in dog years, and 98 in people's) I can relate to the eyesight thing, too. At times it is an advantage!

the Bag Lady said...

Reb - wouldn't that mean that Sibu cannot count? If he thinks you should be finished after three feet.... oh, never mind.

POD - we don't actually celebrate it much, either. Mostly just use it as an excuse to get together, eat good food and drink too much beer. Rather paganistic, aren't we?

Melissa - yeah, I know. I quit with the cleaning stuff - too hard. Sheesh. :) Have a great holiday weekend!

Redbush - why do I have the feeling that the tops of your cupboards are a darned sight cleaner than the tops of mine? :)

Levi said...

BL - I don't feel so bad then.
But I didn't really feel bad to begin with.

Have a great weekend regardless.

BL, if you get tired of spring cleaning at your place, I have a slightly warmer one here...

Crabby McSlacker said...

Have a great Easter! Hope there is a big chocolate bunny involved.

the Bag Lady said...

Thanks, POD - you, too!

kcinnova - oh, I'm tired of it alright! Warmer, you say.... hmmmm :)

Crabby - thanks - probably no chocolate bunny, but perhaps a chocolate egg or two! Have a great holiday weekend!

De-lurking here, it's been a while. Happy Easter holiday, BL.

Happy Easter to you Baggie. :) (I'm working on your "book" right now) ;)

the Bag Lady said...

Conny - Happy Easter to you, too! Nice to "see" you again!

Hilary - ooh, I'm excited!! Happy Easter!

Sagan said...

If you've got vinegar and baking soda, there is no need for cleaning products :)

Have a great Easter weekend!

the Bag Lady said...

Sagan - that's true, but I ran out of baking soda, dang it all. Have to put off the cleaning to another day! Can you see how disappointed I am? :)
