The Bag Lady is having difficulty adjusting to the time change! Believe it or not, the change back to standard time causes her more trouble than losing an hour in the spring. She gets up early as a rule anyway, so losing the hour in the spring doesn't really bother her. It just means that other people are getting up closer to the time she is awake. But gaining the hour in the fall? Instead of getting up at 5:30 in the morning, this morning she was awake at 4:30. Sigh.
She still seems to be busy with all manner of sewing, and trying in vain to keep ahead of the dust bunnies (which are rapidly growing into dust elephants) and housework. The Rancher has taken over the care and feeding of the cows, which is a good thing because the Bag Lady doesn't seem able to manage her time very well. He has also been pitching in with some of the kitchen duties, for which the Bag Lady is grateful.
She got an email from a friend with more pictures of the People of WalMart. What the heck goes through some people's minds when they get dressed to go out in public? Do they REALLY think they look good when they are wearing clothes that look like sausage casings? It made the Bag Lady sad. (It also reminded her to check her image in the mirror from ALL directions before venturing out into the world!) She can still remember the care and attention to detail her mother took before she went out. She would even have us make sure there were no stray hairs on her shoulders and back from combing her hair. That wouldn't even cross the minds of some of the folks in the pictures! (And if the Bag Lady knew how, she would share some of the pictures with you, but she doesn't, which, on second thought is probably a good thing.....)
It is apparently winter in the Bag Lady's neck of the woods. It snowed almost 8 inches on the weekend, and although some of it has melted, a lot of it is still hanging around. The Bag Lady is resigned to the fact that she probably won't see the grass until some time in March or April. Some of the trees and bushes were caught unawares, too, and still have leaves on them. It looks a little strange to see the rose bush with all it's (admittedly brown) leaves against a backdrop of snow.
So what's happening in your life?
That Walmart site makes me laugh, I can't help it. I know that their prices are hard to beat, but I hate Walmart. I once saw a man punch a woman in the face at the checkout line in a Walmart in Austin. Luckily, now that we're in the city, I have no idea where a Walmart even is.
I'm with you on this time change stuff, it just makes a gal want to fall asleep at 6!
Scrumpy - I shop at WalMart quite a bit - can't beat their prices for some things (dog food) but have never seen anyone dress the way they do in those pictures!
I've been trying to force myself to stay up later in order to adjust to the time change - but it's dark so early now..... *whine*
I appreciate the return to MST, but I'm right there awake with you at 4:30 a.m.
What snow we had is gone and there's none in the offing for a while yet. Or so it is claimed.
dfLeah - I'm jealous that your snow is gone! We had a LOT, and even though some of it has melted, there is still quite a bit on the ground.
I've never seen anything like that at Walmart but there were some strange-looking little people ringing my doorbell all evening the other day...
I'm kind of glad SK just doesn't change our clocks...we just keep on the same as always. My Dad always made fun of Daylight saving's time and said it was like cutting a foot off the top of a blanket and sewing it on the bottom of the blanket to try and make a longer blanket. I agree...it's silly...
Thankfully our snow melted. It's chilly, but still greenish...I don't like getting up in the dark tho.
We've been busy here trying to organise things...I'm trying in vain to build a few windows for when my Dad comes to help use renovate in December in the kitchen. For now, I'd settle for justkeeping the house clean. I know there's only 2 of use living here so I don't get how it gets so cluttered so quickly :)
8 inches of snow! Eek!
For a week or two after the time change in the Fall I usually feel pretty good - getting up later agrees with me. Eventually I adjust though and it doesn't feel like sleeping in any more.
Hate the time change. I'm waking up earlier and the kids are ALL screwed up...more than usual ;)
I have dust elephants, too! Maybe they're breeding and infesting the country?
I'm so absent-minded that when I leave the house I always look down to make sure that I'm wearing pants and not still in my pjs. I have this feeling that one day I'll be so scatterbrained that I'll leave my apartment and realize three blocks down the road that I forgot to wear socks, or put on two different shoes or something. Thank goodness for mirrors to tell us how we look...
Oh, I hate Walmart - but, then again, I hate shopping period. That site though is funny, it is astounding what people will wear, let alone out in public.
Our snow has gone again, but I am sure it won't be long before it is here to stay.
I'm sorry it's winter already where you are. I'm pretty happy with the time change for now, since it means I don't have to do my morning runs in the dark. :)
I'm with you on the dustbunnies.
I sweep up so much cat hair around here I could knit myself another litter of kittens, if I ever needed one (8 foster kittens in the house right now).
The time change messes with my mind every 6 months without fail -- I guess my mind is just very easy to mess with!
Hilary - we didn't have any strange-looking little people (or even big people) come to our door... too far off the highway, I guess.
Geo - I totally agree with your dad! It doesn't make a whole lot of difference for us up here in the summer - in fact, I'd just as soon have the daylight savings time in the winter! :)
Javachick - the time change never used to bother me..... don't know why this year is different.
TB - the time change really messes some people up, doesn't it?
Sagan - it cracks me up that you are absent-minded! Must be because you have so much on your mind - smart people usually do! :)
Reb - I agree that some of those people make me shake my head, but in a way, that site makes me uncomfortable. Those people are just going about their business and someone takes their picture and plasters it all over the 'net. Seems kinda mean.
BG - I'm glad you can see where you're going on your morning runs! Makes it so much more pleasant! :)
Messymimi - I, too, could knit myself another pet..... if I could knit! :)
I have an unnatural fascination with that Wal-Mart site. I finally had to take it off of my feed reader as I was feeling too guilty for enjoying it:) And we too have suffered much for the time change. Why was this a good idea?!
Charlotte - I have no idea why the time change was supposed to be a good idea.... it really doesn't make much difference up here when our summer days are so long!
I am a Person of the Mart of the Wal and live in fear of seeing myself on that site :)
I never was until the economy took a nose dive and as "bad" as it is I havent looked back.
Miz - do you dress in outrageous clothes when you go to the W? We might/could see you on that site, if you do!!
I was up at 4:10am today. Coffee is great that early.
Now off to the shower and stop this crazy blog comment bull I'm riding on.
I only shopped at Walfart once. We bought double-cooked chicken and ate it driving down the road on the way to kansas. I saw all the people in those pictures at Walmart when i was there. It's in Colorado.
We end up in a lot of Walmart parking lots when we travel in our camper van (they're one of the few places you can stay overnight for free). And sadly, we've seen lots of folks coming and going who must not have mirrors in their houses.
And I sympathize with the time thing! We just went through a 4 hour time zone change over the past couple weeks and it's been a weird adjustment. Somedays we seem to be on east coast time and some days west coast time, but in totally random order.
I am the opposite - have trouble adjusting when the clocks turn ahead. I love this time of year!
POD - early morning coffee really is the best, isn't it?
And you probably have access to all sorts of shopping places.... unlike around here.
Crabby - it never ceases to amaze me how some people will dress! Is it a lack of mirrors, or a lack of taste?
Missicat - the time change doesn't usually bother me much either way, but this year is different, for some reason.
Hope you are feeling well!!
I have never seen that WalMart site before. It is hilarious! Or sad. Or both. As for the time change, I, too, was awake at 4:30. Got up at 4:45.
Cheryl - that site IS both funny and sad.
Hope you are adjusting better to the time change now.
