This is a Steller's Jay.
(Honest, the Bag Lady knows the picture isn't very clear, but that's really what this bird is.)
He is not supposed to be in the Bag Lady's neighbourhood. According to the bird books, he is supposed to be somewhere in the mountains down around Waterton Lakes National Park. About 800 kms away.
It's been really, really windy lately.....

Poor critter. Probably went on an adventure and got turned around.
Well, at least he is seeing new territory... but I hope he finds his way home soon.
Leah - might have been having an illicit affair with a blue jay and followed her here!
kcinnova - I hope you're right! It was cool to see him, but he might get lonely for his peeps.
I hope he gets his sense of direction sorted out soon. In the meantime, keep looking to see if he gives you anymore photo ops ;)
Reb - haven't seen him yet this morning. He was pretty wily last night - kept moving just beyond range of my little camera. Must be shy.
Nice that he visited, hope he gets home soon, though.
He does look a bit confused. Perhaps he went looking for spring.
Mary Anne in Kentucky
messymimi - he apparently likes it here... he's still hanging around.
Mary Anne in Kentucky - if he hangs around long enough, I'm sure it will start to feel like spring soon! :)
That's some wind. It really doesn't look like Kansas.
Hope he finds his way home soon. Or failing that, that another of his kind also gets blown off course so he'll have company.
Hilary - I'll say!
Dawn - Yes, I feel sorry for him being all alone.
The last sentence made me giggle uncontrollably for a few minutes :)
Geo - I'm so glad!! :)
