Thanks, all! It was hard to capture them on video - there are long periods where they pause, standing, sniffing, eyeing each other up, then suddenly one or the other will jump and it starts all over again! Very amusing.
Mary Anne in Kentucky - yes, sadly, the Princess seems to have missed out on the herding gene.... she doesn't help with the cows at all (she goes to the house whenever we work with the cattle!) and takes turns chasing or being chased by the calf. Silly Princess. I'll let the Rancher know that you like his barn!
Tell the Rancher I'm jealous. Before we started building this house, I almost bought a place with a barn as beautiful as that. It was twenty miles farther from work, and the house (like all the others I almost bought) had Too Many Stairs, but I still remember walking into the barn and saying "Oh, wow!" and the agent showing it (who had both horses and cattle) replied "Isn't this the greatest?"
Emel probably thinks the Princess is a calf, too! Of course, the Princess is very knowledgeable so she knows Emel is not a doggie but she likes him, anyway.
Mary Anne in Kentucky - our barn is quite serviceable, but it's starting to show it's age. My cousin, on his first visit, looked around and said "You've had horses in here, haven't you?" He was looking at the chewed-up top rails on the gates!
Cheryl - Emel keeps trying to get Princess to play the head-butting game, but Princess just looks at him quizzically. She knows better than to lock horns with a bull (even if said bull is about her size and has no actual horns!)

Awwww that's just so sweet. So cute to see them prance. Gotta love how critters relate to one another.
Beautiful. A great reason to smile today, thank you.
That's very cute.
Aw! So cute! :)
So cute and funny!
Thanks, all!

AWWWW THEY ARE SO CUTE!
Lovely photo of the Princess and the barn. The video is so cute!
Sagan and Reb - thanks! It's a laugh a minute out in the barn.
For a herding dog, Princess seems little confused about who chases who.
That is a gorgeous barn!

What sweet friends :)
Will Princess be confused when her buddy grows up to be oh so much bigger?
