The day we Canadians celebrate the 'birth' of our country with picnics
The Bag Lady and the Rancher will probably celebrate by gardening and enjoying the great outdoors. They may even pack up their rickety old motorhome and roll on over to that campspot on the banks of their own little
Although it doesn't look it, Drip's Pond is quite deep, and one day may even have fish in it. The Bag Lady thinks a rowboat or canoe would be a lovely thing to have so she could float around on the water. Of course, she would also have to have a life jacket or personal flotation device of some kind because she can't swim!
The weather forecast is for today to be sunny and mild, but the weekend is supposed to be cooler with showers. Next week, the temperatures are supposed to be much hotter (record-tying, according to one weather forecasting website!), so perhaps they will leave their motorhome at the "lake" so they can visit there in the heat. After all, it's only about a 5 minute drive from home!
Speaking of driving, this is a sight the Bag Lady saw on her way to work awhile ago. She loved the way the clouds hung so low over the river:
Have a great weekend!

Drip's Pond looks like a great picnic site.
I love Drip's Pond. It looks like a great place to spend some time.
Have a great Canada Day.
Happy Holiday to you and Happy Birthday, Canada.
...insert off color personal flotation device joke here...
Those area awesome photos.
Happy Canada Day! It wouldn't be a proper Canadian celebration if there weren't booze involved ;)
Happy Birthday, Canada!
Drip's Pond looks very inviting. Love the clouds trying to reach the river too. Happy Canada Day Sis!
I wish you a blessed and beautiful Canada Day.
The pond looks like a place the kids and I would love to hang out.
Happy Canada Day!
Happy future fish.

Happy Birthday to us.. really we don't look anything like our age. ;)
Great shot. Those clouds look funnelish.
Thanks, dfTerrie! Drip's Pond will make a great picnic spot - one day.
dfLeah - Thanks. I'm looking forward to spending time at Drip's Pond.
Thanks so much, David!
Marianne - I'm so glad you resisted!
Sagan - you're right - most holidays seem to invite a wee drop for celebratory purposes!
Thanks, bunnygirl!
Reb - thanks! Hope you are having a wonderful day, too.
messymimi - hurry on up and enjoy our long summer evenings by the pond! (Bring lots of bug spray - there are mosquitoes!)
Mary Anne in Kentucky - thanks! The Rancher's brother has been talking about stocking the pond with fish. Maybe next year.
Hilary - we don't, do we? (look our age, I mean.) :)
And thanks - those clouds were very interesting - high fog?
Happy Birthday, Canada!
I love that we celebrate our countries' birthdays the same way. :)
And I love the way you captured those fingers of clouds dipping down to the river.
A belated Happy Birthday from me! I've thought, often, about moving to Canada. I'm sure I'd really love it. Except that it's even colder there than here in Minnesota in the winter. I think.
Thanks, kcinnova! It was one of those lucky, point-camera-in-general-direction shots.
Cheryl - our winters have actually been quite temperate the last few years. Only a few weeks of -40 weather. I think you'd love it here! Especially if you moved this far north and could benefit from the really, really long daylight hours in the summer! (please not, I have not mentioned how short the daylight hours are in the winter....) :)
