Baggie, Baggie, Quite Contrary.....

....here's how her garden is growing!

She has yellow cherry tomatoes ripening on her deck:

And the Sub-Arctic maxi tomatoes are starting to ripen in her tomato beds:

Last night, she looked out the window and saw this threat approaching her garden! (You may have to click on the picture to enlarge it)

After she scared away the deer (there were actually two of them heading straight for her garden!) she took a quick tour and discovered this:

The deer had only eaten a small portion of the broccoli..... there is still quite a bit growing.

And apparently, they haven't discovered the brussels sprouts.

And, for some reason, they leave the zucchini alone. Sigh. (the Bag Lady may have to take some to work - there are two plants producing like this....)

if by hot on your heels you mean we've grown one mushy tomato---which I do.

Your tomatoes look good. I'm curious about the sub-arctic maxi variety. I'll need to hear how they do.
Meanwhile, deer eat broccoli? Makes me wonder how broccoli would pair with a nice venison steak.

Carla - good for you! In the gardening world, there's always next year!

dfLeah - thanks! The sub-arctic variety has produced lots of mid-sized tomatoes. I'm quite pleased with it.
Deer have eaten my peas, broccoli and cabbage. Wonder if it gives them gas.....

Your garden looks so good, if I were a deer I wouldn't be able to resist either. Although if Leah were around...LOL

I love your garden. I still haven't figured out the trick to getting things to grow here in this climate. I know it's possible because my dad always had a good garden, but I didn't get the green thumb gene.

I am a bit jealous of your tomatoes - except for a few sun golds, everything is still wee & green. However, I don't have deer, so at least my broccoli is safe! :)

My wife and I are growing some tomatoes out back and nothing beats those fresh pickings!

your tomatoes are way ahead of mine! I've got lots of green ones though, so hoping to get a good crop this year.

Leah, venison steak with broccoli is delicious. I'm sure it would taste even better with broccoli the deer failed to eat when they had the chance.

BL, I'm interested to see that your deer didn't eat the leaves. Of course, my broccoli plants had not yet produced florets at the time of the attack....

messymimi - thanks! I'm afraid, though, that if you could see the entire garden, you'd be shocked at the amount of weeds.... sigh.

BG - thanks! Sadly, I have no spinach this year, though, so you' won't be getting a care package... unless you are a fan of dill? There always seems to be lots of that.

Amy - my tomatoes have been very stressed this year because it has been so hot and dry - I think they produced simply to get it over with!

David - you are so right! Store-bought tomatoes just don't seem to have any flavour whatsoever.

JavaChick - a lot of mine are still green, too, and a couple of "heritage" plants that I tried have scarcely produced at all! I'm sure yours will do well in the end.

Mary Anne in Kentucky - actually, the deer did eat the leaves.... in their FIRST attack! They must have liked it so well, they came back for seconds and discovered the florets were even tastier than the leaves.

Lovely garden Sis! You'll have to put up a deer fence or something ;)

I don't even know what a sub-arctic maxi tomato is (and yes, I read your explanation to Leah, lol) but they look yummy! Do they stay white? We actually got several bowls of cherry tomatoes off our plants this summer so I'm calling it a success!

Ah! The deer are eating healthy! Ha! I intervened on two of them ready to jump our fence and chow down on our garden. Lovely tomatoes, and after seeing your zucchini, will have to try growing broccoli and zucchini next year! Happy harvesting!

Yeah, I was wondering about the deer and the broccoli, too! Those are some great looking zuccinis...ours aren't the best this year for some reason...might have to rotate locations. Never heard of sub-arctic maxi tomatoes but I think I'll check it out.

I mean...zucchini, not zuccini. Sheesh!

Reb - thanks, sis. I am hoping to be better organized with fencing and such for the garden.... next year!

Charlotte - no, they do turn red.... eventually. Congratulations on your cherry tomatoes!

Redbush - glad you forestalled the deer attack in your own garden! It's been fun growing the broccoli!

Cheryl - I was surprised at the deer being such picky eaters - peas and broccoli, but not zucchini! Who knew? :)
The sub-arctic tomatoes have been a success here - I will grow them again!
