Monday Already?

The Bag Lady's weekend did not go exactly as planned. She and the Rancher decided they were too lazy not interested in going camping, so they stayed home and had a few people over for supper on Saturday night, instead.

The Bag Lady made her famous fried chicken and potato salad, and created a new dish (new for her) - seafood-stuffed mushrooms. Her SIL brought fresh corn on the cob and a fresh baguette, which rounded out the meal nicely. They cooked the corn and the mushrooms on the barbecue, which worked very well.

A few more friends dropped in unexpectedly, and before the Bag Lady knew it, they were all sitting around a blazing fire in the firepit in her back yard and having a wonderful time! Until 4 o'clock in the morning! Unfortunately, the Bag Lady is unaccustomed to staying up that late (she is usually starting to wake up around then), so when her internal alarm clock woke her at 8 am on Sunday, she ended up being a little sluggish for the rest of the day.

She has a myriad of things to attend to this week. She needs to work in her garden and yard, finishing harvesting more vegetables and attempting to get things tidied up. Of course, if she runs out of things to do outside, there is always housework and laundry...

Sounds fun!

Hope you get your sleep bank repaid.

Pulling semi-all nighters isn't what it used to be, is it? I know I can't do it any more.

As for running out of things to do outdoors or in -- job security! The fact that there are always dishes to wash or floors to sweep or...

Job security, that's the only way to look at it, so you can laugh.

Sounds to me like you made an excellent choice on how to spend your Saturday! Hope you are feeling better today (it always takes me a couple of days to recoup the lost sleep).

Run out of things to do outside? I've never had that happen yet. Let me know if it happens to you!

At least most of it was good. Can't hack the late nights myself anymore. I'm tired just reading about it.
I've got stuff to get at, too. Guess we'll both be staying out
of trouble for a bit.

Sparrow - oh, so do I! I think it's going to take at least another full night's sleep!

Messymimi - I'm thinking I can't do the semi-all-nighters anymore, either. I'm still tired....

Miz - well, I probably had more fun with my all-nighter than you did with yours, but yours was a better reason!

kcinnova - yup - I think it's going to take more time to recover. Does this mean I'm getting old?

Mary Anne in Kentucky - I think I'll run out of steam long before I run out of things to do....
:)

Scrumpy - thanks! It was pretty good, I think.

dfLeah - staying out of trouble sounds like a good idea. I wonder if I can manage it? :)

When you said it didn't turn out quite how you expected, I feared the worst but it sounds like you had a wonderful time!! And sometime you must post your recipe for the seafood 'shrooms - sounds delish!

Seafood-stuffed mushrooms sound amazing! Glad you had a good weekend.

Sounds like a terrific evening! I rarely stay up that late anymore myself, but with the right group of friends, it's such a fun indulgence that it's worth a few days of sluggish!

4am!!!!!!!!!!

I'm way too old for that myself, but good for you for opting for fun instead of sleep.

Charlotte - the seafood 'shrooms were sinfully simple! I bought all the ingredients at Costco - a big package of 'shrooms, a container of seafood salad and a bag of shredded cheese. Remove the stems from the mushrooms (save them for an omelette or something), put a spoonful of seafood salad in each one. Top with shredded cheese and bake. We put them in the barbecue until they "liquored" and the cheese melted.

Sagan - thanks! They were pretty good.

Crabby - I know! I'm still paying for it.... *yawn*!

It took me forever to figure out what "SIL" was. The other day I was also stumped for a while by who the heck "BHO" was. I'm just a little dim about initials.

Hey I did four loads of laundry yesterday...

Missicat - the mushrooms did turn out very well!
And it's been a really long time since the Bag Lady looked at 4 am from that side. She prefers it from the other side, in all honesty!

Melissa - okay, now I'm stumped by BHO.
It sounds like you're well versed in doing laundry - wanna come do mine now? :)

It sounds like it was probably worth the lack of sleep. I haven't partied until 4 AM since.. well since.. our street party at the beginning of August. ;) It does take a while to catch up. I ought to be done by November.

BHO = Obama, methinks. (a la FDR, JFK, LBJ... etc)

the Bag Lady said...

Hilary - oh dear - if it's gonna take you 'til November, it'll take me (let me see... count on my fingers... carry the one...) a long time! :)

(and thanks, that makes sense - I must have been mistaken about his middle name....)

It just occurred to me that Obama's initials, without the Hussein part, are BO. Which is the name they gave the new dog...hm.

Lazy weekends are good weekends, except when Monday rolls around. Sounds like you had a good one!

Melissa - that cracked me up!

Aleta - it was fun, but I'm still pretty tired!

Sounds like you all had a great time anyway. Hope you got caught up on your sleep. :)

JavaChick - I hope to get caught up tonight. It's hell to get old... :)
