Show and Tell

Last week, Missicat posted a gorgeous "glamour" photo of herself from the '90's, and challenged her blog readers to post their own.

The Bag Lady, unfortunately, has never had a "glamour" photo taken - she is not, by any stretch of the imagination, glamorous! She has been trying to decide if she should post another picture of herself - she is quite shy, and has already posted more than one (Eeek!)

She dug through her archives and cannot decide whether she should post a "publicity" shot, taken when she was involved in amateur theatre, or if she should post her favourite picture of herself and the Rancher. Decisions, decisions.

In the meantime, she finally got a batch of salsa made and is quite pleased with how it turned out. She used her Super Chilies, and confirmed that they really pack a wallop! Here are the peppers she used (the Super Chilies are the wee little red ones at the front of the bowl - she did not use all of these!):

And here are the tomatoes:

She also finished up a couple of other little projects she had on the go. Here's a picture of the Roman blind she made for her mother-in-law's dining room window:

And that's pretty much all she has to show for her weekend!

Weekly resolution check-in: blind = done (good skills!) Embroidery = progress?

I have been working hard on my story outline all weekend, and there's an undercoat on my garden gnome ready to start painting!

Could we maybe please have both pictures? I want to say Bag Lady and the Rancher but the theatre shot sounds fun too - it's too hard to choose!

Ooooh can we see both pictures? Pleeeeeeease?

That roman blind looks very pretty - I had lovely roman blinds in our apartment in Montreal. I miss them.

Food glamour shots!

Miz, who's pretty comfortable saying you have more to show for your weekend than do I!

Oh, what a tease! I got all excited thinking the picture would be in this post.

But the peppers are hot too.

I vote for both pictures as well!

dfBag Lady - The blind looks really good.
I vote for both pics, too.

I never had a glamor shot either. I think I would have felt really silly and self-conscious doing something like that.

The peppers & tomatoes look good - bet your salsa is awesome!

Wow...you did so much more this weekend than I!
This weekend at the farmer's market someone was selling freshly smoked chipotle peppers...I'm trying to decise what to do with them. If they're still there selling pepeprs and tomatos in 2 weeks when I'm done the fundraiser I shink I'll be making some salsa myself...
I'd love to see a picture of you and the Rancher. Pictures of couples make me smile. I think a glamour shot would be fun, altho I often wonder if I'd end up sort of looking like someone else (the whole silk purse out of a sows ear thing and all that).

TA - Good for you for working on your story outline! And painting your gnome!
That's why I didn't post either picture - it was too hard to choose!

Christine - It took me forever to make that blind. The fabric wasn't exactly straight, so I had to do some adjusting. Again and again....

Miz - the food is far more glamorous than any picture I could find of myself!

New*me - thanks! I'm happy with the way they (finally) turned out.

Crabby - that cracked me up - "but the peppers are hot, too" - yes, yes they are!

dfLeah - thanks! I may post both photos soon.

Javachick - the salsa turned out very well - hope the peppers I sent you arrive in reasonable condition (and in time for your Mexican night!)

Oops - Geo - we posted at the same time.
I have a recipe somewhere for pickling roasted peppers - want it?
And a glamour shot of you? Would be terrific! (I've seen the picture you posted of yourself and J - you're hot, girl!)

Nice glamour food shots, though...

Missicat - maybe later on this week.

Sagan - Yup, I made it. Took forever.

I'm pondering the posting of photos....

It sounds like you've been quite busy. I should look into making blinds. I wouldn't mind having custom ones and I know it's not that hard. When I was seventeen I worked for a neighbor with a custom curtain business. Except for the time I gave myself a second degree burn with the iron, it was easy work.

BG - I found the hardest part of this was straightening the fabric.

Well that, and crawling around on my knees because I didn't have a table large enough to lay the blind out flat..... :)

Sis, I say go for both photos, they are lovely. (I think I know which production photo you are thinking of)

Love the blind fabric and it looks wonderful. Much better than the ones I made.

Thanks, sis! I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out.
I'll have to think about posting the photos.......

You're only supposed to do that sort of thinking out loud if you want us to talk you into posting the photos.. so just do it, you hawt pepper picker!

the Bag Lady said...

Hilary - you have a point. Guess I shouldn't have mentioned it. I was actually going to post one of the photos, then chickened out, but didn't change the beginning of my post.
Bad Baggie, bad. (Remember the "bad toad" who would hit himself on the head with a fly-swatter? Don't ask me what program it was.....~~sigh~~)

Hi! Do you have a recipe to share for the salsa? I never know what to do with all the peppers we grow for show! I do have a glamour shot from the 80s, and it makes me laugh out loud every time I see it!

Awesome Roman shade - I would love to learn how to do that!

Hi, Marianne! I posted the basic salsa recipe on Thursday, Sept. 18th. (just scroll down a little in the posts - it should be there)

And I'm glad you liked the Roman shade - it's the first one I've ever attempted, and I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.
