Photo Finish Friday - Redecorating

(The Bag Lady's internet connection has been extremely spotty lately, which is causing her great anxiety and inconvenience because of the home-based business she is attempting to start, as well as really annoying her because it's keeping her from the even more important blogging!)

Here is the "before" picture of her bathroom (which she forgot to take until she already had the primer coat on, but heck, the bathroom was white originally, so it's close enough... well, except she doesn't usually need a stepladder to do her business!)

And here is the unfortunate "Creamy Carrot" choice.... (what the heck was she thinking??)

She is very pleased with the end result, even though the process reduced her to tears at the time! (Sanding between coats is not a step to be skipped!)

Well, what do you think? Was she right to switch horses in the middle of the paint job?

Photo Finish Friday is the brainchild of Leah, over at the Goat's Lunch Pail.

Good work. You totally made the right choice. I think the Creamy Carrot, if left, would have ultimately led to madness.

Thanks, cousin. (and thanks for not saying how short a trip that would have been.....

Very nice! Are you available to redo mine? A little travelling will be involved! Plus you have to leave all those extra u's at the border. Or is that bourder? Are you tired of me making fun of that yet???

If the creamy carrot had covered in one coat, I think it would have been fine, as it is, I think you made a great choice to switch.

Missicat - snourt.
If I come down there, I have to bring the u's with me (and teach y'all how to spell the Queen's English way!)

Reb - thanks. I think the creamy carrot would have gotten old really fast. But, yeah, if it had covered better, the room would definitely be that colour!

Orange in a bathroom does not get old because once you paint it orange, you force yourself to like the color more and more with each passing day.

Good call on this one. Love the finished result!

I would have liked the Creamy Carrot if it covered well, but it would have made the blue of the washstand sort of bounce at you every time you walked in. Sinks are not supposed to behave like Labrador puppies. I like the final color and I love the striped towels. And I'm deeply impressed by the meticulous prep work. I tend to clean off the hardware before the paint actually dries....

Janell - I probably would have liked the orange if it had behaved itself, but I don't like disobedient paint!

Charlotte - thanks! And it's not Wild Tangerine.... :)

messymimi - thanks. I'm glad it turned out well.

Gail - thank you!

Mary Anne in Kentucky - Thank you. I was starting to despair of ever finding towels, but found yet another aisle to wander down and voila! I couldn't believe my luck to find towels striped with the exact colours I wanted. And I blame the nearly-new flooring for the meticulous prep work! I'm not usually a messy painter, but accidents do happen (quite frequently, in my case.)

I quite like them both. But considering the colour of your vanity, I'd say the new one works best. Nicely done. Enjoy your vistors!

The orange is kind of nice, but I admit not wanting to be locked in the bathroom with it on a queasy sort of day.
The blue striped towels and toned-down walls are more to my personal liking (and bonus: they work wonderfully with your vanity).
If you come down to visit Missicat, you'll have to come on out and help paint here at my place, too!

Hilary - thanks. The orange and blue would have been okay, I think, in a larger room, but it did have quite a punch in that small room (like a stick in your eye kinda punch!)

kcinnova - I'd love to come down and visit both you and Missicat! We'll work on that, 'kay?

Great choice, Bag Lady! It's definitely a switch. The orange, however, would have been a great compliment to your blue countertop. As it is, it looks gorgeous and feels warm and relaxing. Give me some of your bravery, and ambition to switch from my off-white walls!

Smart switch. Beautiful finish!

What do you mean "sand between coats"? You are SO meticulous! Feel free to come and help me re-paint as well...

Yes you made the right choice. It sounded so warm and inviting, but seeing it on a whole room makes the whole carroty thing too...carroty...?
The new paint is very nice.
Well done :)

The Creamy Carrot (is that REALLY a paint color??) is kind of nice but I agree that your final choice is perfect. Switching horses was a good move.
