It's Monday, Isn't it?

The Bag Lady is wondering exactly when winter will arrive, and when it does, exactly how bad will it be?

There were a couple skiffs of snow in October, but it didn't stick around and the weather has been quite mild for this area for this time of year. But that is bound to end. In fact, the Bag Lady thinks it's going to end today.

It rained here yesterday, and of course, the temperature dropped overnight, so it turned to freezing rain. The forecast is for snow flurries - according to the weather channel, it is supposed to be snowing right now. According to the Bag Lady's own weather channel (her kitchen window) it is not snowing, the rain has stopped and the sky appears clear (well, except it's still dark.... but she can see stars and she hasn't banged her head on anything. That she knows about. Head injuries can be tricky, though, can't they? If you bang your head and it causes memory loss, will you remember banging your head? Something to ponder.)

And, in the time it has taken the Bag Lady to compose this babbling nonsense, the sky has clouded up, so she thinks there is not much chance of a gorgeous sunrise like this one from a week or so ago....

Your weather channel is a great deal more reliable than anything on TV.

Gorgeous sunrise pic.

Beautiful sunrise!
Well, hopefully the D.C. area will NOT get the ton of snow we had last year!!

I missed a sunrise that good this morning. I woke up at seven (hah! managed to sleep past six-thirty on a day off!!!) to a beautiful pink band outlining the trees to the east, and thought "I should run get the camera. But if I don't follow the morning routine, the dog will pee on the floor." In the ten minutes while both our bathroom needs were taken care of the pink was swallowed into the grey that's the theme for today.

I have a fire going steadily in the living room stove, and a pot of coffee keeping warm on top of it. Coffee, fire, laptop--perfect morning off.

Yesterday's rain was supposed to turn to snow last night, but then before I went to bed, they changed their minds and now we aren't supposed to get snow until Tuesday. It will get here eventually, lets just hope it decides to be a low snowfall year ;)

Once I got over a case of the giggles, I enjoyed your sunrise.
Your weather channel *is* the most reliable one.

I hate to burst Missicat's bubble of hope, but I heard we might be in for another doozie of a winter.
(I confess to being glad about it, as long as it doesn't interfere with my college son coming home for Christmas.)

PS: Word verification is "lazilla" which suits me to a "T" and started me giggling all over again!

KC - NNOOoooo! Where did you hear that? I refuse to believe it! wah..

Leah - it did snow a little skiff, but seems to have stopped now.

Missicat - yeah, last winter was a little extreme in your area, wasn't it?

Mary Anne in Kentucky - Sounds like a wonderful way to spend your day off!

Reb - I hate to say it, but we need snow this year - we need the moisture. We've had serious drought conditions here for two years now, and several dry years before that. Our crops need a drink!

kcinnova - glad you got the giggles - everyone needs them periodically!

Common sense and the view from the window or back porch is the most reliable system for knowing what to wear for the weather today.

I hope your winter is not too overwhelming this year.

You do babble with purpose, Baggie. Lovely sunrise.. may you see and share many more of them.

I like your bag invention. Shopping carts - ugh, a colony of bacteria and viruses. Don't get me started.

Smashing sunrise!

And as to weather forecasts - I've rarely heard one that couldn't have been bettered by simply looking out the window.

messymimi - I, too, hope our winter is not too overwhelming. It appears to have started now - it's snowy and cold this morning.

Hilary - well, sometimes there's a purpose behind the babbling.... :)

Nick - thanks! That's exactly how I feel about shopping carts!

Dawn - thanks! I have often wondered about radio announcers just reading the forecast without having any clue about what's going on outside their broadcasting booth.....

Wow! That sunrise is vibrant! I can't get very nice sunrise pictures because the trees block out the sky. Drat!

You have the loveliest views of the sky!

I've been wanting to go to bed by 7pm since daylight savings... my body is so confused by the 5pm darkness!

That photo is gorgeous! Sunrises are the best (here too). I have been up around 4am since the STUPID TIME CHANGE so I always see them. Grateful regardless. Today on my walk, I took photos. It was 630am.

Head injuries can be tricky, huh? ;)

I hate having to figure out the weather. Why can't it be sunny and in the mid 70s every day?

That's one of your best photos, ever!! Gorgeous.

On another note, freezing rain is the worst! I'd much rather have snow. Not that I like snow, of course, but if I had to choose, it'd be snow.
