Carrot Complaints

The Bag Lady has been redecorating. She decided way back in April to paint the bathroom.
It was white.
It was boring.
She thought "Colour! What that little bathroom needs is some colour!"
It is no longer white.
But the Bag Lady is having paint troubles. The paint that she bought isn't covering very well, and the roller marks from the previous coat are showing through the next coat. (Yes, she knows she should have used tinted primer, but she didn't have any and she didn't want to run to town to buy tinted primer when she had a perfectly good can of white primer that had scarcely been used..... just hush!)
She is going to slap another coat on today, and if it doesn't cover better than the first two, she is going to hang sheets all over the walls. Well, maybe not. But she will start to feel a little desperate. You see, she has a party planned for later in the week, so she really wants her house to look nice. What she really doesn't want is streaky orange walls in her bathroom.
Sigh. ("Creamy carrot" looked so pretty on the little tiny paint chip. If you ever visit the Bag Lady, be sure to bring your sunglasses in case you need to pee. Really.)

Oh, my! I got so tired of the ancient wallpaper in our bathroom that I ripped it all off... and then waited for my husband to paint it! It is now a creamy eggshell color (a compromise, trust me) but nearly anything is an improvement over 30yo wallpaper.

Creamy carrot sounds just wonderful. I'm sure the next coat will do the trick.
Sorry to hear it's giving you grief, though. That's not what you need.

Buwhahahah! This sounds EXACTLY like something I would do! I love you!! And, um, no I don't have helpful suggestions for you.

Perhaps this will make you feel better though: I once painted my bathroom "Wild Tangerine". Oh yes. It was awful.

"Colour"??
Is that Canadian for "color"? hehehe

Oh dear - I had that problem with the orange paint we got for the back hall. It took a lot of coats to cover...it looked good in the end tho - don't give up :)
The colour sounds great! I can't wait to see a picture (hint hint!)

I suspect you'll get used to it and learn to love it. Drastic changes are like that. Make sure the roller you use is right for the job. Maybe one that lays it on thick will do the cover up properly.

Oh, I hate it when it takes more than two coats! no colour should take more than two coats! It sounds like it will be pretty when you are done though ;)

Aggravating, when that happens! Personally, I know our entire house, especially the kitchen, hallways, and bathrooms should be done again, but, I'm lazy! I know white is boring, but, am afraid to try anything that resembles a lot of color!

Do you have Home Depots in your area? I just remember their paint ads covering a similar situation - think they have paint that covers up in one or two coats.

Reminds me of the coral we picked for a kid's room that just turned out to be too pink and not enough orange.

It's okay, if I come to visit, I will be so busy attending business in the bathroom I promise not to look for paint streaks.

When I come to visit you next summer I'll be sure to bring sunglasses ;)

Hope the painting goes well! Maybe you could get creamy carrot-coloured sheets? Hehe.

[failing to suppress my evilness] You could always distract the eye from any streaks by adding plastic spiders!

Oy, what a day! The bathroom now looks like it belongs in an A 7 W restaurant - I found some taupe paint to cover the orange (I'm desperate here, girls!) and have half the walls done. Sheesh.

Carla - I thought I would love the creamy carrot, too..... ummm.... no. Just no.

kcinnova - if I waited for the Rancher to do anything pertaining to home decorating, I'd be waiting a loooooooooooong time. :)

Leah - in theory, creamy carrot sounds wonderful. Not so much in real life.
Sigh.

Charlotte - so, what you're saying is that Wild Tangerine is out, too? Dang. That was my next choice!

Missicat - snort!

Geo - I'm afraid I gave up. Taupe is the new orange in there.

Hilary - I may have grown to love it, much as I did my terra cotta wall in the kitchen. Sadly, I didn't have time to love it.....

Reb - I still have hope that it will be pretty when I'm done, but it will be a different pretty than I had planned.

Redbush - I'm starting to lean toward white again - it wasn't so bad......
:)

Missicat - Home Depot is where I went for the taupe paint. Bless them.

messymimi - I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who has had a paint disaster! (And you won't need your sunglasses now - come on up for a visit any time!)

Sagan - the creamy carrot sheet idea did cross my mind - to hang on the wall and cover the streaky paint! :)

Mary Anne in Kentucky - eeeeekkkk!!! You ARE evil! :)

I still think my idea of barricading the bathroom is best.

aw...s ono carrots then? Pity.
Still, you know...pictures? :)

Do they spell it "Home Depout" in Canada?

I love the color orange and am often fooled by little color chips. My bathroom is orange. BRIGHT orange.

Marianne - that was an option I considered for awhile! :)

Geo - pictures coming soon!

Missicat - "snort"

Janell - all the best bathrooms are bright orange!
