Excellent. I love this sight. I don't think I've ever been able to get a proper photo there. Thanks.

Thanks, cousin. The fist picture was taken from the highway, the second was taken by the Rancher - he crossed a portion of the river to an island and took the picture from there!

Geo - it was gorgeous there. We wandered along the riverbank, admiring the hoodoos and the colourful rocks there.

Really, really gorgeous. I have just GOT to get a passport ordered.

What are hoodoos???

Cheryl - hoodoos are rock formations created by erosion (I forgot to include a link to a site that explains them, but have corrected that oversight now!

But now I want to know why they're called hoodoos. Until now the only meaning I knew was the "conjure" meaning in what Wikipedia calls "African American Vernacular English" though I assure you white people use it, too, in all the parts of the South I'm familiar with. Did the rocks look like they'd "had the hoodoo put on them" to someone?

Wow.. impressive formations. Of course you know that I can't get this stupid song out of my head now. "Tell me, hoodoo.. hoodoo you think you are?" ;)
