Autumn Pictures

Here are a few pictures the Bag Lady has taken over the past few days. She was trying to capture the beauty of the autumn colours along the river valley, but she's afraid the pictures just don't do it justice! Of course, the best place to take the pictures would be in the middle of the bridge, but although she is slightly crazy, she is not suicidal.... there's no possible way to stop in the middle of the bridge to take pictures!

The first one was taken from under the bridge.

This next one is the result of the Bag Lady holding the camera out the window and hoping for the best..... unfortunately, the result is a rather dark, uninspiring shot.

She took this picture in her yard yesterday morning - it was rather cold (-9C) and frosty:

This was taken on her way to work yesterday - the clouds were hanging low over the river valley:

And when she got to the top of the hill on the other side of the river, the clouds were still hanging around:

She is afraid that the window of opportunity for taking pictures of the lovely leaves has pretty much slammed shut now - the wind picked up last night and was blowing leaves with much abandon all over the place!

I love that second to last shot best.. but you have to stop taking photos while driving, Baggie - especially on slippery, frosty days. It just ain't that important.

Geesh it's cold there. I guess summer is really over, eh?

Hilary is right, we love the pictures, but we love you more, so do be careful.

You live in a part of the world that just oozes with beautiful scenery; I will have to visit, and it is on my someday list.

As for leaves, isn't there that idea that you should allow them to form a barrier between your grass/garden and the snow so they can become fertilizer or something? Around here, we can't use that excuse (no snow, at least not usually), but I know if I lived where it did snow, I would subscribe to that theory. :)

What you call uninspiring I call dark and moody.
Love the pics. Good work getting them, but for heaven's sake, be careful.

Hilary - funny, I said that very same thing to myself yesterday! No more photos while driving!
And yeah, we are suffering a real cold snap right now. I'm hoping for a bit of an "Indian Summer" before real winter sets in, but you never know.

Miz - With the way the wind is blowing this morning, most of our leaves will be at the neighbour's! Of course, the other neighbour's leaves will probably be here....
:)

Messymimi - there are some very pretty sights around here, and quite different, I imagine, from what you are accustomed to! If you do visit, I'd be happy to take you on a tour (the Rockies are only a few hours drive away!)

dfLeah - thanks! Moody is right. The play of the sunrise on the trees was beautiful, but I simply couldn't catch it without risking an accident! Silly people are just so intent upon getting to work on time! Sheesh, they should leave earlier and slow down a little!

-9! Holy cow! And I complain about our short summers in Saint John.

JavaChick - I just looked at the forecast for this week and wish I hadn't.... our HIGH for Thursday is supposed to be -2C!!!! Brrr. Hopefully it will recover a little before winter actually sets in!

Isn't it funny how quickly falls goes by? In Seattle we pretty much ONLY had spring and fall, 6 months of each! But here it seems like those transition seasons go by in a blink. We easily have 6 months of winter alone;) Love the pics tho!

Charlotte - sometimes it feels like we only have two seasons here - winter and road construction! :)

I love the pictures too...I'm one of the oddballs that loves the frost on things in the mornings...everything gets shiney when the sun comes up.The cold part tho - not so much! And I agree with everyone...don't risk yourself for a photo.
Weather guy says it might snow tomorrow...I'm sticking my fingers in my ears and pretending not to hear :)

Who were you under the bridge with?

-9C already?? And here I thought it was cold because we finally dropped into the 40s(F)!

Don't feel bad about your pictures. We can certainly see at least a little bit of what you are seeing, and imagination can do the rest.
I often miss wonderful shots because I am driving. I took pictures on the road, from behind the wheel, ONE DAY. But it was too dangerous and I won't do it again (which is why you won't see photographs of the deputy shooing the goats off the highway last week).

Good shots Sis! Now, remember how crazy the drivers are in that area and stop taking driving photos. :)

Geo - it was relatively warm here this morning, but really windy! It gradually cooled off and started raining and now feels as though it might/could snow!!

POD - I was alone under the bridge, dangitall!

kcinnova - I promise, I only take pictures while I'm driving if there is no one else close to me on the road! And even then, it's rare! I usually try to pull over.

Reb - Thanks! And, like I said, I usually pull over, but that just isn't possible on the bridge, so I did stick the camera out the window that once and snap it. I was afraid it was going to be all sky....

Aww, that first picture reminds me of the Appalachians back in North Carolina! They turned the prettiest shades of yellow and orange. Thanks for posting these, I'm suffering from fall nostalgia.

I need to get out and take some pictures around here to show how we aren't having a fall. It's 8:45 AM right now and 81F (27C) outside. That's just wrong.

Gena - glad you liked the pictures! it's 7:47 here, still dark, and about -3C, which is somewhere in the low 20' Fahrenheit. (can't quite read all the little lines on the outside thermometer, and I'm too wimpy to go outside and get a better look!)
It's cold, and frosty. And I'm glad not to have to go out there right now!
