Here, finally, is the finished product!
This is the Bag Lady's niece, who kindly consented to having her picture plastered all over the Bag Lady's blog! (Personally, the Bag Lady thinks her niece could have a second career as an Internet model, but the Bag Lady might be just a wee bit prejudiced!)
As predicted, the fabric was a little difficult to work with, and the lining material was even worse, but the Bag Lady thinks everything turned out well, and her niece was pleased with it. She seemed quite thrilled to have a new, unique dress to bring in 2009. (Doesn't she look good?!)
She looks really good.
I'm envious of your dressmaking skills. The dress looks wonderful and the niece equally so! I bet she has a wonderful New Year with a new party dress.
dfLeah - Thanks! It suits her really well, and fits perfectly (thank heavens!)
Sagan - Thanks!
Dawn - Thanks! I hope she has a great New Year's Eve, too.
No, BL. She looks GREAT!!! And I believe you could have a second career as a top notch dress maker! When do you start taking orders for dresses from your bloggity buds?
Aw, thanks, Lucas. That's very kind of you.
(and any time you want a tailor-made dress, just let me know!)
The dress looks Fabulous! Little L looks wonderful in it...she's all growed up! Beautiful Job.
Thanks, sis! She does look gorgeous, doesn't she? (and all growed up indeed!)
FanTAStic. Love the dress. And your neice is lovely, too! ;) The fabric is great, though; definitely worth the trouble to sew it (in my opinion).
Marste - thanks! I think the fabric takes the dress from "nice" to "fabulous"! (Even if it did give me a little trouble, it was worth it!) And I hope my niece gets as much pleasure from wearing it as I did from making it for her!
Fantastic! She looks darling!
Lovely dress and model. It would seem you had a great model to work for and she had a wonderful seamstress for hire. You two make a good team.
Melissa - Thanks! I think she looks darling all the time, anyway!
Hilary - thanks! It was fun making something for her.
Ooooh she looks amazing!
I love the dress.
She looks great! Fantastic job! She definitely looks happy in it!
Christine - thanks - I think so, too!
Missicat - thank you! I hope she makes lots of good memories in it!
Looks like it turned out very well indeed Bag Lady! Your niece looks lovely!
Thanks, Javachick! There were a few tense moments, but it did finally come together.
It's a spectacular dress, but she outshines it!
(The fabric sure would scare me.)
Mary Anne in Kentucky
Aw, thanks, Mary Anne! She has blossomed into a beautiful young woman!
You did a great job and I'm so glad she likes it!
Thanks, BG! I'm glad, too!
She looks so cute! And I'm completely jealous of your sewing abilities.
Nicely done! That is certainly a hot little model- er, dress. ;)
Is there no limit to the talent in this family? Very pretty.
Great new dress & a happy, wonderful- looking model!
You should be proud of both. :)
PS: If you make a dress for me, will I be that cute?
kcinnova - thanks. Of course you would look that cute! You probably already do!
(Missed you bag lady. Thanks for the notes on my blog.)
SB - You're BACK! Good to see you!!
BagLady - your niece is beautiful and the dress is stunning! I hope she's livin' it up wearing it tonight!
Thanks, gizmogirl! I hope she is, too!
