The Bag Lady is having a busy morning. She had to run the Rancher's truck to the garage first thing this morning in order to have a tire repaired.
She is now supposed to be going to pick up the meat from the butcher shop from the cow that paid the ultimate price for taking a run at the Bag Lady and various other folks! Unfortunately, the Bag Lady's truck is refusing to start. It's very cold here, and her truck is being obstinate.
She is supposed to be meeting some friends at the abattoir, because there isn't enough room in her little truck for the 10 boxes of meat that the cow turned into. 500 lbs of meat. FIVE HUNDRED pounds of meat. The only good thing about the extreme cold weather is that the Bag Lady can leave the meat outside and not worry about it thawing out while she tries to find a home for it in various deep-freezers.
What a way to spend her birthday!

Happy Birthday. It must be nasty cold there today. It was a paltry -36C here this morning.
Good luck with the truck and with finding a proper home for the meat.
HIPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Or as we like to say, Hippo Birdie two Ewe!
500 pounds... that's a lot of sacrificial meat! I hope it stays cold and YOU stay warm!!
That sounds like my kind of birthday hamburger!!
Happy birthday Bag Lady, hope you get to warm up AND chill out later!

Happy Freakin' Birthday!!! I bet I'm older than you.
Many felicitations! As much as I hate car trouble I love a birthday steak!
Happy Birthday BagLady. I think I'll put you on the list of favorite people that got even. :)
I can hear you in a Humphrey Bogart voice
"OK cow, one wrong move and you're hamburger."
Happy Birthday.
I know - Make youself a meatcake. That should use up at least 2 Lbs. Whaddaya say?
Gravy dressing?
Aw come on...:)
Ugh. I could never eat a critter I'd seen running around my property...or anyone's property, most likely; good thing I married a computer geek and not a rancher.
Happy Birthday Bag Lady! And I do hope you enjoy your steak. Or burgers. Whatever. :)
Yippee! You're having another birthday! "It's better than the alternative," I like to say. (The alternative being not getting to have anymore birthday celebrations.)
"Happy happy birthday we wish you many more, with health and wealth and friends by the score, cut the cake and we'll eat some more, happy birthday to you." [paraphrased from a song that's running through my head]
happy happy happy happy birthday!
Love,
Carla
Awwww, Happy Birthday Bag Lady. I hope the truck became more compliant in the end!
I love other people's birthdays! It means I'm not the one getting older! LOL
: )

Busy busy! Hope you managed to get the car started and all. That is an enormous amount of meat from one animal.
And happy birthday again:) Tell us all about the celebrations when things have calmed down a bit!
Birthday? Happy, happy, birthday...to YOU!!!
Awwwww happy beefday!
Hope you're celebrating this evening :)
Thanks, everyone, for your good wishes. It was a very busy day, but I did manage a little celebrating!
Tomorrow is shaping up to be as busy, or more so, so don't know if I'll have a post up in the morning!
Stay warm! We will all be by for burgers later! I like mine medium with cheddar cheese, please! :-)
Oh...and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Thanks, Missicat! Medium it is! :)
Happy birthday late! I hope your truck was better behaved than mine, which is still sitting at Rick's while he tries to find a part for a 17 year old not-very-popular-model truck.
500 pounds. My freezer's still mostly empty since the move, but my hunters got eleven deer among them, so I need to save room for deer once they get it processed. Five livers already take up a shelf. Happy space hunting!

Thanks, Mary Anne. We think we have found homes for most of it..... although some of it is still sitting in boxes outside (it's still plenty cold enough out there!)
