Random Photos

The Bag Lady thought she would share some random photos she has taken around the ranch lately.

Peonies about to bloom in her flowerbed....

Here is a giant puffball growing in the pasture. Complete with a grasshopper. Almost everything in the pasture now comes complete with grasshoppers. This area is over-run with grasshoppers. Of a variety that no-one seems to recognize.

A poppy blooming in her flowerbed....

A little surprise the Rancher found in the bushes when he went to check cows! Momma cow thought she could hide her baby from everyone, but the Rancher found her...

Lastly, a baby Evening Grosbeak hanging out on the deck railing. He was eating sunflower seeds that had fallen from the feeder just above where he was perched. He kept craning his neck to look down at the ground. He finally hopped halfway down the railing going down by the stairs, then launched himself into a free-fall to the ground!

When the Bag Lady went out a few minutes later, he was gone, but he did come back for a few minutes the next morning, doing a much better job of flying!

Great texture on the puffball. Are you going to name the new baby Casper?

While i'm used to seeing kitten trip all over themselves as they learn to walk and run, i've seldom gotten to see baby birds trying out new wings. One of the lovely things about where you live.

Casper! Love it.

Wow, I can't say I've ever encountered a calf hiding in our yard no matter how high the weeds grow. Maybe I just haven't been looking hard enough?

Great pictures!!

Reb - your name suggestion made me giggle!

messymimi - it's been a long time since I've seen kittens tripping over themselves!

Carla - I've missed you, too! But I think of you every day when I work out. (Yes, I'm working out now! gasp!)

Crabby - you might be right, you're just not looking hard enough! :)

Love the grosbeak! They aren't frequenting our place much these days because of the squirrels which are chasing everything away. We used to think the squirrels were cute, but, we're getting overrun with them.
