Saturday was a beautiful day in the Bag Lady's neck of the woods.

Here's some proof.....

Oh my gosh I love that!
I DO miss having a true winter...

That's hilarious! I had no idea horses did that. At first I thought they were dogs... Really Big Dogs.

Um, they are horses of some kind? I realize my knowledge of farm animals is pretty pathetic.

I love it.

My dogs do that - old Kailey loves taking grass baths in the summer. My young'un Murphy likes to do that on my bed - he's really feelin' good when he's taking a bed bath. He's like a wild-guy doing it, too.

Thanks for sharing.

~~~shudder on the snow~~~
We are almost thawed in Wisconsin.
OH wow! That just made my whole day! I didn't know that horses rolled in the snow like they do it dirt. For some reason, i find that whole scene so peaceful. I think I'm going to be watching it repeatedly today:)
Reb - Glad you liked it, and really glad I managed to film both of them doing it!
Miz - I'm really starting to miss summer.... but I'm sure I'd miss winter eventually, if I lived where it was perpetual summer.... eventually....
Crabby - Yes - big, fat old horses! It was really quite warm, so I think their backs were itchy.
Linda - my dog does it, too. On the grass, on the carpet, on the bed, in the pasture....
I'm jealous that you are almost melted.... it'll be awhile yet, around here.
Charlotte - it was a perfect spring-like day. The horses must have been feeling the heat, what with still wearing their heavy winter coats. Glad you enjoyed it.
Missicat - I was really lucky to film both of them doing it!
dfTerrie - you're welcome! Glad you liked it.
dfLeah - I thought I was going to miss it - the older horse had already rolled once before I got the camera turned on, so it was just luck that the other one started, then the first guy decided he needed to roll again!
You're so lucky to be around so many animals!
Wow. And to think that the azaleas are in bloom here!
Hee...cute.
I wa out making snow angels on the weekend too...I kind of snicekre when I waw the video. All they needed to do was wave their arms and legs up and down and voila! Snow horse angels...
When I have seen horses rolling in the snow here, they're rugged up (because their winter coat is kept brushed out) and I just thought they were trying to get rid of the rug. I didn't imagine they'd enjoy snow the way they do dirt.
Tricia - yes, I am. Except in the spring, when all that poop starts to thaw and stink..... :)
BG - I envy you your azaleas. It'll be at least a month before anything is blooming around here....
Geo - snow horse angels! teehee
Mary Anne in Kentucky - They were probably just trying to scratch some of their winter coat off! It was very warm that day, so I imagine they were itchy.
What a cute video! The horses are celebrating spring, too! I'm sure they feel the warmth of the sun, and just knew that the snow would feel so great. It gives a whole new meaning to snow angels!
Redbush - yup - I'm sure the snow bath felt good in the warmth of the sun!
Absolutely beautiful picture. You have some great ones that you've taken. We were supposed to get some snow today, but ... ha! Nada. Vee - www.veegettinghealthy.blogspot.com
Had to come back and see it again. They must have been practising for synchronized snow bathing ;) It almost looks like a horse ballet.
BL,
I don't want to frighten you, but I would totally do that! This coming from someone who has ALWAYS wanted to Polar Bear! It looks delightful and I am jealous of your horses.
Oh BTW, I forgot a funny story. I was riding in the snow once, I was probably about 17 years old, and my horse Kitty decided to roll on my in the snow, WITH HER SADDLE ON! Luckily, I jumped off in time to not get crushed under her but whe really tore up the horn. I used to feed her snowballs and she would gobble them up and then drool them out. Just a fun little memory for you.
Thanks, kcinnova!
Vee - we were supposed to get more snow today, too, but it was actually quite a lovely day. The snow might show up tonight, though.... sigh.
Reb - I like that - synchronized snow bathing - I was just so lucky to get it on film!
Lucas - I would laugh to see you do the snow-roll!
And we had an old horse who did that occasionally, too, when he decided he'd had enough of whoever was riding him - drop and lie down on them! Guess he figured turn-around was fair play!
Oh Baggie, that's adorable. What a happy looking pair. :)
the Bag Lady said...
Hilary - they were just enjoying themselves so much! And I actually managed to get the camera rolling while they were still rolling!
