After some much-needed rest, the Rancher has gone back to work. On night shift. The Bag Lady hates it when he's on night shift, but there's not much she can do about it. She has discovered that whining doesn't help.
The weather remains quite mild, and the forecast is for a few more mild days before the temperature dips down closer to seasonal. The Bag Lady is hoping that the remainder of the winter will be tolerable and that there will be no more really cold days. The days are getting noticeably longer - there is daylight now until around 6 pm. The Bag Lady is looking forward to more daylight to help drag her out of her winter blues. How can it be that the shortest month of the year always feels so long?
What's happening in your corner of the world today?

Ahh, its gloomy and miserable in London today (shocker!)...after two whole days of sunshine which is rather unusual. All the snow has melted and we are left with wet, filthy streets. BUT-- this week has flown by without work (read: spent mostly at the local pub with pooch and hubby).
I can't believe its already feb to be honest with you!! And its valentines day this month, which means those conversation hearts I love so much (I know i know i'm strange).
Happy thursday Baggie!!
btw--how's it going with the OTHER physio anyway??
glad he got some rest BL and hear you on the night shift.
no real experience there but Ren Man has been traveling a TON lately and I do.not.love.it.
well I do.
for about a night or three :)
and then Im ready for him to be back.
more daylight......so looking forward to that!
My hubby has worked night shift since July and I hate it. But, it's a job, so we are blessed for that!
Have a great day!
Yeah...waiting for Paul Harvey in my inbox... We are -17 this morning. I feel like February should be OVER already. The stores have bathing suits hanging next to winter jackets...
df Bag Lady, I'm slowly becoming aware of my corner of the world.
It looks like a nice day and the morning is rather mild.
I'm mostly here. Need another day or two, though.
I am glad to have the longer days.
I hear you Bag Lady! I'm so ready for winter to be over...
I missed you yesterday!
We are having a cold snap here- the wind chill was around 0F yesterday morning. Today it's in the single digits but supposed to warm up around 40F...this weekend should get to almost 70F. It has been nice and sunny though so I don't mind the cold.
That stinks that the Rancher has to work night shift. Luckily Rion doesn't get too many night calls because I do have a hard time sleeping when he's gone. I couldn't imagine if he was gone all night, every night. No fun!
Here's to the longer days : )
Rupal - hey, I love those little hearts, too! Haven't had any for ages (must look for some next time I'm in town!)
My "other" physio is challenging! She's trying to get me to isolate some muscles to strengthen them, and I'm such an over-achiever that I'm finding it difficult to make such subtle movements.... sigh.
Miz - exactly! It's a nice change to have the whole bed to yourself (well, except the for the cats) for a night or two, but then...
And I hate having to tiptoe around during the day for fear of waking him.
Annette - since JULY? You must be settled into quite a routine by now! But you are right - it's a job! :)
Marianne - bathing suits?! OMG, bathing suit season is coming!! (Panic sets in.) .....oh.... wait... the Bag Lady can't swim, so doesn't wear bathing suits. Whew.
dfLeah - glad to have you back. Take all the time you need to readjust!
Javachick - you've had such a nasty winter, I don't blame you for wanting to be done with it!
Hi, Emily - I'm sorry about yesterday - it was just a crazy day, and I had one of those blank brain days - wasn't anything interesting to blog about!
0F is pretty cold for your area, isn't it? But your weekend sounds like it will be great!
It's freaking cold here. I'm trying to not throw a temper tantrum about my engagement ring taking so long to make (tiny hands), because I want to post pictures.
But the "loaner" from the store should be here in less than a week (there was only one ring with the setting/metal I wanted in the whole company. It's being shipped to here from Texas, thus ensuring my lifelong customer loyalty to Kay's).
Beyond that I'm working and reading books about planning weddings (I may start being really boring).
I hear you - February always seems the longest...
It does need to warm jup and be sunny. I've been sewing a bellydance costume and it's just far too cold out to be sewing such small bits of clothing :)
Tricia - they are giving you a loaner! Way cool!
And don't overdose on the wedding planning just yet! Have you set a date?
Geo - sewing a belly-dancing costume in cold weather would tempt me to make it out of flannel or something.... :)
I'm so glad the days are finally getting longer! I hate leaving work and it being dark outside already.
GP never worked all night, be he would often go in at 5 and work until 1 or so. Those nights I wouldn't see him at all unless I took him dinner, since I don't leave work until 6 or so. It stinks.
Gena - I know what you mean about the longer days - it feels like a little glimmer of hope now that the sun doesn't set until around supper time!
And yes, night shift stinks. I'm hoping this will only be for a week or so...
Daylight! We ate supper by daylight last night, and this morning the sun was up by the time I had breakfast ready (because I was out of things I thought I had and improvised.)
Today I need to get to town and do a few things. Tomorrow, when it's supposed to thaw, I must get started on storm clean up at my father's house, because the sanitation department there may start storm debris pickup as early as Monday! Eek!
Mary Anne in Kentucky
Mary Anne in Kentucky - it is daylight here now, so I guess I can go have some breakfast!! :)
And I can see now that it is trying hard to snow. Dang - it must still be winter!
Yep, the short days drive me up the wall too. I especially hate coming home from work once the sun has set -- just makes normal domestic life seem nonexistent.
Here's hoping you feel chipper again soon!
Thanks, Haley! I usually start to perk up again by the end of February, so that should happen soon...
Hang in there Bag Lady.
Drinking and partying, good times!
It's really nice to leave work/get out of class at the end of the day and see that it's still light out. Except on Mondays when I'm not finished class until 8:30pm hehe. Regardless, the days being longer means that spring is on the way!
Thanks, SB!
Sagan - yes, every day we get a little more daylight - it's cheering me up a wee bit!
It's still pretty darn cold here today (at Frank's). We did that stunted head down shuffle walk on icy paths when taking Ben for his walk. Though the sun helped. I want my summer back now, please!
Hilary - I can relate! Now that the Rancher is back to work, I have to go back to feeding the cows. I had a mini-vacation while he was home. Sigh.
Cold cold cold today! Supposed to finally warm up tomorrow in time for the weekend - woohoo!
I love that it is still a little bit light when I drive home now, I hated the going-to-work-in-the-dark AND coming-home-in-the-dark. Very depressing!
Took Bad Kitten to the vet for her spaying. My baby is going under the knife!!!
I'm so looking forward to the end of winter, too! With all the physio that you're taking, you'll be a new woman. Ha! With the rancher back at work, and you having to be quiet maybe you can make some silent movies for us to enjoy! I hope the ice leaves soon, but, I imagine it may be here for a while. Happy tip-toeing!
It's COLD. Been in the 20s and will only start to warm up on Sunday. It's really bad today, but the sun is out.
My family in KY has been sending pictures of ice-encased trees and bushes and things. I think they all have power now, though.
Thanks BagLady for your comment on my post! I forgot that you were a singer! I don't cry at weddings unless I know the participants, fortunately. Funerals I sometimes get really choked up, but after singing about forty funerals after 9/11 I kind of have a coping mechanism down. Had to really exert it the other day: I sang a funeral for an 18-year-old kid who fell out of a ninth floor window. THAT was horrible.
What a life. I'd rather keep cows, I think, than sing funerals.
There's an idea for a movie: The Funeral Singer.
I like the longer days, but it is almost as if they are taunting us. "Spring is coming....but not for a long time" Drives me nuts. Well, we all know that is a short drive, but still!
Missicat - I hope the weather forecast is right, and your weekend is warmer!
Redbush - why am I suddenly hearing Tiny Tim in my head? (tiptoe through the tulips....)
Melissa - Do you think the Funeral Singer would be a hit? I cannot imagine how terrible it would be to sing at a funeral for an 18 year old!
Reb - it will be spring before we know it. Really. It will.
"Do you think the Funeral Singer would be a hit?"
Hey, I didn't say it would be a good idea.
