A Post About Nothing

The Bag Lady is suffering from writer's block. Strangely enough, when she worked from home and only had the cows and assorted domestic critters for inspiration, she found things to blog about. Granted, sometimes those were really mundane and/or boring things, but she usually managed to choke something out, and a lot of you were kind enough to read and comment.

Now that she is working, she should, theoretically, have lots to write about, but she finds that she doesn't. She could write hysterically scathing descriptions of the people at work, except that they are all so nice, there's nothing to deride! Unfortunately, nice is boring. She could make something up, but that wouldn't be fair. Neither is she the type to bare her soul to the world, even if she had something deep and dark to bare. Sadly, she's far too shallow and transparent. She is not a deep thinker, nor a grand intellectual, so she doesn't have anything profound to pontificate about. (Does one pontificate about something or does one pontificate on something? See? We are not dealing with a great intellect here. Hell, we probably aren't even dealing with a full deck!!)

And nothing has happened lately to piss her off, so she can't even write a decent rant. Sheesh. So, with apologies, she hopes you have a great day, and that something happens soon (or that her brain comes back from the extended vacation it is apparently enjoying) so that she'll have something she can share with you.

Sorry about the deletion. I didn't see a typo until after I hit publish.
My suggestion, such as it was, was to ride out the block, but post pics of the ranch and other scenics. Pics are alway good.

I have the opposite problem. While I was working, I was blogging regularly. Now, while I'm at home I can't think of anything to write about! Of course, I don't have a ranch to take care of and offer inspiration. And the dog and cat don't do, well, anything of note. Sigh.

Carla - aha! A post about wonderfullnessment might just do the trick!!

JavaChick - true, true!

dfLeah - I could dig around in the nether regions of my photos and probably find some that I haven't posted. Thanks for the idea.

Gena - funny how that works, isn't it? The Rancher is doing most of the ranch work now, so I don't even have that to post about!

How is the job? Feeling more comfortable approaching people?

the Bag Lady said...

TB - actually, the job is great! I am starting to feel a little more confident and knowledgeable, which helps when approaching total strangers!
Thanks for asking!

Hell, I never have anything to say!

It's not necessarily a bad thing that you have nothing to say. You're obviously not in a state of crisis, so that's good!

Scrumpy - that is not true! You always have interesting posts about your new city!

BG - True, true - not in crisis around here (well, unless being behind in my sewing is a crisis...)

Take it as a good thing that all is well. My Mum used to say that no news is good news.
Besides, you're so busy (2 jobs, keeping house, working the farm , rendering lard) I'm not surprised you're just taking the day off! :)

Geo - well, not exactly taking it "off" - I have a bunch of sewing orders I am working on! :) But it feels like a holiday, 'cause I can wear my old jeans and don't have to worry about hair and make-up!! LOL

"About nothing" worked for Seinfeld.. why not the Bag Lady? Leah's right. Photos always work.. it's what carries me... for the past couple of years. ;)

the Bag Lady said...

Hilary - yes, but your photos are incredible!! :)

Yes, photos work well (even without captions). You live in a beautiful area.

Here's an idea (not my own, because I seem to lack imagination) - find 5 yellow things in and around your home that you love, take photos of them and post them on your blog (and comment if you like). That should get the kettle boiling again.

I still love your blog even when you think you've nothing to say.

Conny - thanks for the idea, and the compliment! That might just be quite a challenge - looking around, I don't see a lot of yellow!! Good idea!

I think the photos idea is a good one. Humph, even my comments are uninspired today.

It must be catching, sis!

Posts about nothing are the best, because you get to post all about the nothingness. I do it all the time. :) Lol.

Thanks, Georgie! I feel better now. :)
