Tuesday. Just Tuesday.

It's snowing in the Bag Lady's world.

(Fortunately, not this much yet - this was last year!)

That is not at all unusual for this time of year, but this has been such a mild winter so far that it still comes as a bit of a shock. It started snowing a couple days ago and shows no sign of stopping yet. The Bag Lady is getting wimpier and wimpier as the years go by, and hates winter more and more. The cold and snow just make things harder to deal with. Everything becomes a trial (in the Bag Ladys' mind, anyway.)

Enough whining. The Bag Lady is really scraping the bottom of the idea barrel thinking of so many things to write about today, she is finding it difficult to settle on one topic! This post may be all over the place, or it may turn out to be really, really short.......

I know JUST how you feel. Cold saps my energy/creative genius/will to live. Seriously thinking about turning on every light and cranking the heat to 80. Or I was until the stupid bank just sent me a balance reminder... Ah well. When life gives you ice...make cocktails!

BRRR! That makes me feel cold just looking at it! The snow we had last week has long gone here, we must have sent it over to you!

TA x

Marianne - I like the way you think, girl. (the cocktail part, not the turning on every light and cranking the heat - our bills are already high enough!!) :)

TA - doesn't that snow look nasty? That all fell in one storm - something in the neighbourhood of two feet. We have nowhere near that much right now. Yet. Glad to hear yours is gone, but wish you'd sent it on to Siberia or somewhere else.....

I've got mixed feelings about winter. On the one hand, the snow can be pretty and it feels so romantic, but on the other hand, it's so cold.

I'm getting wimpier, too. I still have coffee outside, but rarely sit down and rarely leave the back porch. And I drink it quickly.
Cold makes me want to write.
Go Cold!

Tricia - yes, I agree. It looks really pretty -- in pictures! :)

dfLeah - it makes me want to write, too. But usually letters to home from some tropical island....hehehehehe.

My neighbor told me last night she was wishing for serious snow - like 3 feet of the stuff! I like the idea of snuggling in with a cozy fire, lit candles, and a good book. I don't like the idea of cleaning up the messes of kiddos going out and coming into the house multiple times, or having cold wet fingers, or running out of milk when the roads are icy.

It's been snowing steadily out here too...I'm glad the snow is finally here, but I'm with you. I want someone else to deal with it so I can drink hot chocolate and watch *them* shovel it :)

kcinnova - wouldn't it be nice if we could have an evening with all that snow and the attendant hot chocolate/snuggling/fire/etc. for an evening, but when we woke up the next day, it would be gone? :)

Geo - see above reply to kcinnova. :)
I can dream, can't I?

I usually wish for it to snow lots and lots...until of course it happens, then I whine and complain about the cold! :-)
Did someone say "cocktails"????

the Bag Lady said...

Missicat - what's that old saying - be careful what you wish for? :)

I've learned not to wish. Really - it just gets me in trouble! :)

I think you live in the wrong place, wrong country, if you don't like winter. LOL! Come on down south, it's getting up to 58F today : )

the Bag Lady said...

Oh Emily! I would love to live somewhere warmer, but apparently, so do those really big spiders, and cockroaches... snakes... lizards... crocodiles... *shudder*

Since we drove all the way cross country and are now camping out in my mother-in-laws condo to avoid a New England winter--I think I've got you beat on the wimp factor!

Hope it warms up for you!

Temps in the 70s today here. Come on down!

Seriously though, there have been many times when Dan and I were on vacation in northern climes like
Vermont and Maine, and Dan would say how wonderful it would be to live in such a place. He would brush me off when I reminded him of winter, but really...I'm sure it's fun for a few weeks, but a few months?

There's a reason retirees move south instead of north.

df Bag lady,

We had our first two inches of snow here in NY over the weekend and I was singing while I cleaned off my car. Wouldn't be singing with two feet, tho.

I guess for me, although the calendar sets the seasons, it doesn't feel like winter until it snows.

Crabby - I can understand fleeing to warmer climes! It would just be such a bother to have to pack for all the cows.....:)

BG - you have a big yard, right? I could bring the cows? :) And you are right on as far as "it's okay for a couple of weeks....."

dfTerrie - singing in the snow? What were you singing? :)

Congrats on losing a stone! :)

I had this conversation with so many of our clients at work yesterday; the mild winter turning into a sudden burst of freezing weather means that we've all turned into these wimps that can't deal with the cold. Maybe we should start a petition to move Canada to, oh I don't know, Spain or Hawaii or something. Just pick up the country and move it.

Missicat said...

Come to the D.C.! We actually have pretty decent weather most of the year. Just have to deal with the politicians! :-) And a "little" bit of traffic...

the Bag Lady said...

Sagan - I like the way you think - I'll sign your petition! :)

Missicat - a 'little' traffic?! Hehehehehe

Oh, I'm jealous! I want some snow for Christmas . . . probably not likely in Southern California, but I wish . . . *sighs wistfully*

I am so glad that photo is from last year Sis - you scared me for a minute! We are expecting more freezing rain on top of our couple of inches of rain today - fun times!

the Bag Lady said...

Marste - what's your address....I'll talk to my neighbour, Santa.....:)

Reb - that's the forecast for here, too - it's still snowing as I type this, but supposed to warm up enough that it will turn to rain this afternoon. Sigh.

df Bag Lady,

I was singing "Walking in a Winter Wonderland," partly from winter spirit and partly because I keep watching the You Tube book trailer of "Dying in a Winter Wonderland" and of course the theme music is: Walking etc.
etc.

Watch a few times and you will be singing along with me. Here's the link:

dfTerrie - thanks. Just reading the words has firmly implanted the song in my head. Now it will play over and over in an endless loop......:)

it is soooo cold here today too. We had snow but just a dusting but it's blowing which makes it bad for all the folks out there. It's a good day to stay in with a mug of something hot :) and great blogs to read~

the Bag Lady said...

Annette - I hate it when it blows. The wind is just starting to pick up here now - of course, it is supposed to be a warm wind, so I won't complain too loudly.

We had a few cms overnight too but now the rain is taking care of at least half of it. It's looking pretty messy out there. How long till summer NOW?

the Bag Lady said...

Hilary - not too long....just half a year or so.... ~~sigh~~
