Weekend Wedding Review

The Bag Lady and the Rancher had a busy weekend. Friends of theirs got married, and the bride used the Bag Lady's house to get dressed for the wedding. The Bag Lady was pleased as punch to have a hand in making the day special for her friend.
First, the Bag Lady cleaned her bedroom/bathroom and got it ready for the bride to use:

Then she set out some refreshments:

The bride's daughter did her mom's hair:

And helped lace her mom into her wedding dress:

Making sure everything looks good:

Adding the finishing touches:

The groom and groomsmen await the bride's arrival:

The bride and her 6 attendants (the bride and groom each have 3 grown daughters) arrive in style:

The bride's mother walked her down the aisle:

Supper:

The first dance as a married couple:

It was truly a family affair with 4 generations taking part in the ceremony, and a wonderful time was had by all!

A lovely weekend for you all, it looks like! All of your hard work paid off.

I, too, would enjoy hearing about your own wedding.

Every one is an adventure story of some sort, even Miz' short version.

It looks like the weather cooperated--no frost?

That looks wonderful! Seems like great weather and a good time together with family and friends. Can't beat that.

I'm in too - I'd love to hear your wedding story :)

It looked like a great weekend, Cousin. Good for you for opening your home to the preparations.

Miz - ummm .... errr..... ours is still in the "planning" stage. (We've been 'engaged' for 14 years!)

messymimi - thanks - we had a blast!

kcinnova - I could make one up, or tell about the first one.... nah.

Mary Anne in Kentucky - the wind was a little nasty (hard on the hairstyle), but it was warm and sunny and quite pleasant. No frost, but it did cool off a lot after the sun went down.

Geo - it was a lovely day! The Rancher and I spent a lot of time visiting with old friends, and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

dfLeah - we did have a great time, and I was honoured that the bride chose my house for making her preparations.

Gena - they did, they truly did!

It looks like a lot of fun. While I have nothing against churches, my personal experience has been that weddings that take place in less formal places are much more enjoyable for all concerned.

I'm glad everyone had a good time!

Now that looks like a perfectly fun wedding. I love how they arrived.

What a fun wedding! Love all the pictures, makes me feel like I was there... without having to buy a gift or get all dressed up!

Awwww! Looks like a lot of fun. I also think informal weddings are waaaay more fun.

BG - I agree - this wedding was very much a family affair, and felt very cozy and fun.

Hilary - isn't that great!!? The groom's 85-year old father drove the team of horses.

Crabby - glad you had fun! (they specified no gifts on the invitation, so you're off the hook! :))

Missicat - it was a great time.

What was that *thing* floating in the "refreshments?"

What a pretty country wedding! The dancing couple coulda been plucked right off the cover of a romance novel- His Blushing BBQ Bride!

And did everyone obey the "no gifts" specification? That's what my grandparents said on the golden wedding party invitations, and they were flooded with gifts--especially from all their brothers and sisters, and they were the eldest of nine, and eleven.

POD - t'was a strawberry!! Sheesh.

Clare - ooh - I'll tell them that - they'll be tickled pink! :)

Mary Anne in Kentucky - Most people obeyed the 'no gifts' rule - I did see a few gifts, but I think they were mostly from family members.

Looks like all your hard work was worth every minute.
Now, you can enjoy the fruits of your labours too.

The goodies look great and what a nice venue. Glad the weather was mostly good.

Now you have some ideas for your upcoming nuptuals with the Rancher. :>)

What a beautiful wedding! Although the "supper" pic was a little jarring. I love how they rode in on a wagon!

Scrumpy said...

Something about the wagon and the three daughters on each side puts me in the mood for 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. :)

the Bag Lady said...

Sparrow - how true! We can ponder whether we should use a wagon or a buggy. That decision could take another 14 years. :)

Charlotte - oops, I'm sorry - I forgot about the supper picture! (actually, it kind of disturbed me when the cook opened the smoker... poor piggy!)

Scrumpy! I haven't seen that movie for years!! That's too funny! :)

How fun! The pictures really do tell the story. I'm sure the food was yummy but I have to say I was a little startled by that particular shot - ha!

the Bag Lady said...

CherylK - to be perfectly honest, I was a little startled, too! But it sure was tasty!
