Busy Wednesday!

The Bag Lady has been busy, busy like a little bee.

And must rush off to town.....

Here is a photo of what the Cowboy made for breakfast today! Everything is either home-grown, or home-made. The eggs came from his sister's chickens, the bread is home-made, and the beef is home-grown! We had three steers slaughtered this spring, and picked up the meat yesterday. This was our first taste of it, and it is delicious!

The Bag Lady has two freezers, and they both look like this:

This is not a very good picture, because the Bag Lady failed to get the top shelf in the shot (she was trying to avoid the mess on top of the freezer....)

(Psst...wanna buy some beef?) Hehehehe

Ooohh, real food! Damn that looks good.

Thanks, dfLeah - it was really good, and made all the better by the fact that hubby cooked it for me!

mmmmm....don't know what sounds the best! We just had a new butcher shop open up a few miles away which only provides local beef. Will defnitely have to try it out.

Missicat - there is quite a movement on now to eat locally. I try to do that in the summer, but it's darn-near impossible in the winter.

I would love, love, love fresh beef! Our freezer looked exactly the same way a few years ago when my dad & brother had a good hunting season. Sadly we are almost out of everything *boohoo*

I wish we could support local farmers and ranchers more...I always try to buy produce from locals in the summer time!

Good for you, Emily, for at least trying to buy locally.
We were almost out of meat, too, and I deliberately didn't buy any because I knew we were going to have lots!

I LOVE breakfast, especially for dinner. (And especially when made by Cowboys!)

Yup, nobody cooks better than a Cowboy!! Especially coffee over an open fire...

Breakfast for dinner is the best! :-)

That must feel so good to eat what you've raised, grown, and cooked yourself!

Looks good Sis, now how to get it here still frozen?

the Bag Lady said...

Missicat - agreed!

BG - It is an amazing feeling to eat what you have produced!

Reb - we'll have to work on that!

Um, beef comes from cows?

Cows that start off as adorable little calves like, say, Scrumpy or Farley or Crabby?

Uh oh...

Anonymous said...

I kinda DO :)

love,

a carnivore

the Bag Lady said...

Crabby - no, no, the beef comes only from the ugly cows.... :)

Mizfit - wish I could get some to you - it's totally natural, fed only hay and oats - no antibiotics or hormones, not even fertilizer or chemicals of any kind on the feed we use!

wow! That's what our freezer usually looks like in the fall if BF gets a deer! I love it, because it means I don't have to buy red meat for MONTHS!

Sarah! You're back!! Missed seeing you around.
We have some wild meat (moose) in the other freezer, but most of what is in both is beef. And it's so tasty!!

So, next time Wendy's does an ad campaign that poses the question "Where's the beef?" we'll know what to answer.

Heh...how far can you throw? I'll take some :)

Wow...looks like a cowboy breakfast is the best thing ever...:)

I love how much of what you eat you make yourself! Also I love beef. It's tasty. When I was little I used to have so much fun going to the butchers shop:)

Hilary - that's too true!
Geosomin - my pitching arm isn't what it used to be, so you might have to come and get it! And I'll even have the Cowboy make you breakfast!
dfTerrie - wish I could send you a sample...
Sagan - wish I could send all of you a sample!
Homemade or homegrown is always the best!
