Paddles are Important

Real Life has been intruding on the Bag Lady's blogging time, which is not a bad thing, unless you happen to be the one in the hospital!! The Bag Lady's mother-in-law had knee replacement surgery on Monday, so Baggy has been spending some time with her, and doing a few other things in town that simply HAD to be done.

Unfortunately, all this time away from her computer put it into a pout, so that had to be attended to this morning. (The Bag Lady is computer-illiterate, so her idea of fixing her computer involves much turning off and on until the computer gets dizzy enough to forget whatever was wrong and decides to work again!)

Here's something totally unrelated to anything else, but amused the Bag Lady so much she decided to share. The Cowboy came home the other day, chuckling about a story he heard from someone. Apparently there were a couple of guys making snow at the ski hill on New Year's Eve. They decided, after a few bottles (?) of something to warm them whilst doing this, they should canoe down the bunny hill. When the EMS guys arrived and unpeeled them from the tree that put an end to their journey, one of the fellows piped up and said, "We were doin' okay 'til we lost the paddles!" Fortunately, neither of them was seriously injured.

The Bag Lady hopes you all have a great day and don't lose your paddles.

Glad to hear MinL is okay after her surgery. Now that I have cleaned the cereal off my computer screen...yes, paddles are important! So is sleep and as I am posting before noon, you know I've been awake all night - no idea why though.
Well, don't let your computer pout any more, it is not good for it to be dizzy either ;)

That is a really, really funny story. Oh the things men think are smart after they've had a few drinks.

Why do you suppose that is? I just get silly if I've had a few, I don't suddenly begin thinking throwing myself down a mountain in a canoe is smart! lol

Mother is doing fine, now. She was pretty groggy part of the day yesterday, but had perked up by the time the Cowboy and Bag Lady went back for a visit in the evening. She'll be up and running in no time.

The Bag Lady has been trying to figure out how to include the canoe-ing story in her blog ever since she heard it! It still makes her laugh when she thinks about it!

Sarah - what is it about the male mind that comes up with this stuff? The Bag Lady gets silly, too, but usually just wants to sing Karaoke or something...

Sometimes the very best ideas really, really aren't.
Good story.

dfLeah - ain't that the truth?

That made me giggle...cuz, well, it sounds like something from my home town winter boredom days. My brother and I can verify that the hood of an old car also works well for toboggan. And a wooden chair nailed to a pieceof aluminum siding...
Never thought of a canoe tho...sure these people didn't grow up in small town Saskatchewan? :)

geosomin - small-town Alberta -- small-town Saskatchewan -- not much difference!

The ski hill is actually the river-bank, so if it hadn't been for the few trees at the bottom of the bunny hill, those two would have at least been prepared when they landed on the river. They may even have had time to find some paddles before the spring thaw...

Great story, hope your mother in law is doing ok, and I know what you mean about the lapses in writing.

Hi, Tricia! Glad to see you back.
Mother-in-law is doing very well now and will probably be home on Friday.

Great story. And I love your approach to computer repair--pretty similar to mine!

Hi, Crabby! Yes, the Bag Lady gets a wee bit impatient when her computer decides a slow-down is in order...puts her in a bad mood.
