I can not wait to see how many of your readers ask:

THE LAST OF THE WHOMWHOMS?

I totally remember that show.

I never saw the show, just the trailers, and even so I feel the end of an era.

Oh, and Adam was my favorite. I loved when he sang!

So sad, all of them gone now.

Carla - I have a feeling most of my readers will know who the Cartwrights were....

Mary Anne in Kentucky - we watched it faithfully as kids (the Rancher trekked to his aunt's place, because she had electricity AND a television).

Gail - and was so calm and dignified.

Missicat - Little Joe was my favourite when I was a kid, but I grew to appreciate Adam when I was a little older! (And I always wanted Hoss to be my big brother!)

Awww Adam. Bonanza was the only western I ever liked as a kid. No doubt Michael Landon had much to do with that. Pernell Roberts too. Oh and big, cuddly Dan Blocker.. not to mention Pa.. Lorne Greene. sigh!

I don't remember ever watching Bonanza...And yet as soon as I think of it I hear the theme music in my head...So I suppose maybe I did catch some reruns way back when.

Hilary - I'm pretty sure Lorne Green had a lot to do with my mom watching that program!

JavaChick - you young thang, you! It was on the Lonestar channel for quite awhile recently, and we watched a lot of it (the Rancher did, anyway).

Mary Anne got it right--the end of an era.

Where have all the great Cowboy shows gone?

Dun-da-da-dun, da-da-dun, da-da-dun, DUN, DUN, DUNNNNNNN!!!

Aww. So sad. :(

Awwww, I wish I could say "who?" but I'm not too young to remember Bonanza. :>) The ranch where they filmed Bonanza is at Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada - you can still go there and ride mountain bikes (if you like).

Rest in peace Adam.

Whomwhoms...hahah
I remember all of them.
And the "Native American" who had braids. Is he still with us?

He was a favourite of mine. Time really has gone by. I used to never miss an episode of Bonanza, and the theme song rings loudly in my ear as I write this.

I used to work at Ponderosa Steakhouse, the east-of the-Mississippi version of the Bonanza Steakhouse, both founded by Hoss after his TV career. His competitive advantage was that his farms raised the steaks we served.

I liked the show (plus Big Valley) as a kid and didn't mind the restaurant job while I was in college. Fond memories of all the Cartwrights and Trapper John, too.

May they all rest in peace.

dfTerrie - now that IS a good question!

Reb - it was a good show!

Marianne - you crack me up!

Marste - yup! That's the tune that's stuck in my head!

Conny - don't tell the Rancher - it just wouldn't be right to ride anything other than a horse there (at least, in HIS mind!) :)

POD - I am not sure about that - I just know that all the males who were "Cartwrights" are no longer with us.

Redbush - I have been having a hard time getting that song out of my head, too!

Clare - that's cool about the restaurants! I had no idea.

Messymimi - I hope so too.

I loved that show. I never could decide if I wanted to be a member of the family or someone's girlfriend. A friend of mine once met Hoss and said he was The Nicest Person.

the Bag Lady said...

kcinnova - I know - I always wanted to marry Little Joe so I could have Hoss and Adam as my big brothers. Sigh.

I kinda remember that show... was never big on Westerns. Still, sad to see the end of an era!

Crabby - it's definitely sad to see the end of an era!

Those were the days. I wonder if we can get reruns, too? Would be fun to revisit.

the Bag Lady said...

Cheryl - we watched it in reruns a couple of years ago, but haven't seen it recently.

Oh thanks, Marste, now I've got that tune stuck into my head too! Ack!
