Actually, the bruising is spreading down the finger, but the nail is no longer black, so will probably not fall off.
It doesn't look anywhere near as bad as the Bag Lady made it sound, does it? (she's such a wimp...)

Glad you won't lose the nail. They take a while to grow back.

Thanks, dfLeah! The pictures don't really do it justice - it looks worse than that in real life. And is getting more and more colourful as time goes on. The bruising has spread to my second knuckle now.
Quick! Denim Dude, hide the tools from Baggie! (and cooking utensils, and manicure scissors.. cooked spaghetti.. anything). That woman is a danger to herself.

when you are in town go to the drugstore and get one of those plastic fingertips so you can protect it until better..you know you will be bumping it on everything!!

Hilary - you are so right! Sheesh!
Dr. L - I WILL get one of those because you're right - I'm constantly banging the darned thing! (even though it's wrapped in gauze, it still hurts to bang it!)
I'm not sure that the bruising spreading to the second knuckle is a good thing Sis. Do as Dr. L suggested and get one of those things - at the least.
Reb - that seems to be as far as it's going, so it's probably all right.
I will get one of those guards when I go to town tomorrow. I actually have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow for an unrelated thing, so I'll ask him to have a peek at it.
