The delphiniums are starting to bloom now:
And here is a photo of the spinach and peas in her veggie garden. She is a little disappointed in the germination of the spinach. She will plant some more seeds (for the third time) to see if she can get a little more to grow. The second set of seeds that she planted didn't germinate. She blames the hot, dry weather.
(note the dryer sheet strips tied to the chicken wire over the peas. So far, that seems to have kept the deer at bay.... or they have found greener pastures - perhaps one of the neighbours has a better pea-patch!! Ha ha)Hope your weekend is going well.

I planted a few different varieties of seeds in my little vegetable patch and most of them seemed to do ok, but the lettuce and flat leaf parsley did not take at all. I've had trouble growing parsley from seed in the past, but I was surprised the lettuce didn't come up - I've had good success with that before. Funny how things go.

Javachick - my lettuce didn't come up this year, either. Don't know if it was the seed, or the conditions. I planted it twice, too!
I planted some rutabaga seeds a little late, but they are coming up, so it may have been the lettuce seed was no good.

Had our first feed of strawberry/spinach salad the other night. It was so-o-o good!! There's nothing like home-grown stuff. :)
OK I have serious ranch-envy! My house just has a tiny paved back-yard which I'm currently sharing with my messy neighbours since our dividing fence blew down.
So I am completely green-eyed over your greenery - woah, you have serious space grow stuff! And you have flowers, and you don't kill them! Have you always had green-fingers? Dya think anybody can learn?

Yes, anybody can learn! If I can do it, anyone can. Even in a really tiny space, you can grow things in pots.
Most of my flowers are perennials, and around here, it's survival of the fittest. What comes back year after year gets to stay! :)

Well possibly not "jet-black" - I do cultivate weeds really well!
I seriously suck at gardening but you've motivated me to get at the weeds this week, so maybe it will look better soon.

He lives in Amarillo, Texas and has lots of pics of the foliage around his neighborhood. Makes for a fun comparison. He also has a contest for anyone who can guess what's in the last picture. Being a city girl I think it's mussel shells from an Italian restaurant, but I'm sure that is a very poor guess.

I don't have a green thumb, but worse than that, I'm just plain lazy. Fortunately, the Lobster is a great gardener, so I get the veggies without the hassle.
Susan - I have a terrible weakness for spinach salad! Especially one made with fresh spinach from the garden (and bacon, mushrooms, hard-boiled eggs, swiss cheese and a wonderful dressing!)
I made one the other day with strawberries from the garden, too. Yummy!
