Friday Round-up

It's been a warm week here on the ranch. Of course, the heat always brings on a thunderstorm or two, and we've had a couple lately that have sent the poor Princess dog scurrying under the coffee table! She either hides under the table or huddles next to the Bag Lady's leg, which makes doing anything a little difficult. There were a couple of cracks of thunder during one storm that made the Bag Lady want to scurry under the table along with the dog!

She cobbled together a few video clips to share the big thunderstorm with you, but this is her first attempt at movie editing, so it's not very good. Of course, when the storm really got going, the chicken-hearted Bag Lady quit and went indoors! (to hide with the dog...)

The first storm dumped about half an inch of much-needed rain on the ranch, so the pasture is no longer crunching underfoot.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, and Happy Fourth of July to our friends south of the border!

I love thunder storms! Nice steady wind, eh? Those clouds were moving pretty fast and our flag was flying proudly.

Good job. Now come out from under the coffee table.

Toddler Tornado is shrieking FARMER FARMER and pointing at the screen.

I guess you will be needing to change your names to the Bag Lady and the Farmer.

Good job with the storm. Loved the lightning strikes.

I generally like thunderstorms (if I'm indoors), but when the lightening hits too close I shriek like 6 year old.

Hilary - are you sure it's safe? :)
I didn't include the footage of the rain that came afterwards - sideways!

Mizfit - I'll tell hubby that his name has been changed - I'm sure he'll be thrilled!!

dfLeah - Thanks! It took a lot of standing there, waiting, with the camera pointed in the wrong direction!! (and don't ya love the commentary!?)

Crabby - Thank heavens I discovered I have a video-editing program on my computer... otherwise, the commentary would have consisted of a lot more shrieking!!

We had a thunder storm on Sunday night. I normally sleep right through them since I sleep with ear plugs and I've always been a sound sleeper anyway, but there was a crash of thunder so loud it woke me up...and it was long. Husband said one of the cats had been sleeping at the foot of the bed and it took right off.

Being me, I was back to sleep in no time.

The best is still the time when I was camping, sleeping in a tent and there was thunder. I don't even think it was raining, but I felt the ground shake. That was quite an experience.

And then I went back to sleep. :)

df Bag Lady,

Gorgeous storm and you were a very brave Bag Lady to video it for us!

Javachick - wow, you must be very brave! There have been some pretty wild storms around here, too, but those really loud cracks of thunder send me UNDER the bed...seriously!

dfTerrie - thanks! There were a couple of video clips that I had to remove because the camera was shaking (the Bag Lady was quaking!) And the part where I actually yelped and said "that's it, I'm goin' in!!" ended up on the cutting room floor, too. Didn't want to leave proof of how chicken-hearted I really am!

Ooh that is gorgeous. I love a good storm! I hope we get some thunderstorms soon.

Sagan - just wish it had been a little darker - the lightning shows up so much better!
I'm sure you'll get your wish soon...

Well done Sis! I know how much you hate those. You did a pretty good job of keeping the camera steady in spite of it all.

Thanks, Reb - it's a good thing you pointed out the editing program for me, or you'd all have had to suffer through my yelping and jumping!! :)

Wow is it friday already?
Cool storm...hope it comes out our way and cools things off.

the Bag Lady said...

Geosomin - it probably is headed your way, but so far it hasn't done much to cool things off around here!

Welcome, tokaiangel! I didn't get footage of some of the 'best' (loudest and brightest) parts because I either had the camera pointed in the wrong direction or was too busy hiding.... :)
