Saturday Report

Here's what greeted the Bag Lady this morning when she went out to check cows (click on any of the pictures to enlarge them):

And with the windchill factored in, it was -21C. Which is only something like -6F, but still felt damned cold!
Here is the newest addition to the ranch, Sneaky:

And here is Milkshake, all snuggled into the hay:

The Bag Lady was pleased that there were no calves born overnight, because weather like this doesn't give them the best start in life! Hopefully, this will be winters' last kick at the can!

How are things in your neck of the woods today?

Aw, poor babies in the snow! :(

It's quite nice here in Saint John - warm & sunny. Looking forward to getting outside.

We've got ourselves quite the winter wonderland here, too.
Love the calf pics and I'm so glad no one was born overnight.

Javachick - enjoy your warm weather! The Bag Lady is hoping for some next week...
dfLeah - I'm glad, too, that we didn't have any calves overnight. It was bitter.

I'm embarrassed to admit I was cold at the start of my morning run-- about 52 F. Yeah, I'm a wimp when it comes to cold. You Canucks are tough!

BG - it's all what you're accustomed to, isn't it? 52F sounds pretty balmy to me right now!!

Eek! Snow! (you can keep it:)).

I like all of your pictures. You have such a nice-looking place.

It keeps threatening snow here, but it never quite delivers on the threat. Just a lot of gloomy cold Don't-even-think-of-planting-those-seedlings weather. Wah :(

Thanks, Sagan - that's very kind of you to say! It definitely looks better when it's green, though! Hopefully, that will happen soon.

Merry - sure wish it would quit snowing here! I'll bet you are able to plant your seedlings sooner than I will be able to, though!

Apparently The Bag Lady moved to Antartica and didn't inform us.

Oh.. ummm... erm.. It's 23C (74F) here at the moment. We always seem to have opposite weather conditions.

Cute critters. Just think of all the calf-naming you'd have to figure out on your own if it weren't for your blog buddies. ;)

POM - wanted to surprise you...
Actually, it does feel like Antarctica here today. Hopefully it won't last too long. Sigh.

the Bag Lady said...

Oh, Hilary. That sounds so nice. I hope you're enjoying it.
Yes, all these little critters would be just numbers without all the help from bloggers!

Yes, It is cold & miserable here too! I hate it!

It seems to have gotten worse during the day here - brrrr.
Should be better in a few days, I hope!

It's entering the 3-4 months or the year when Ithaca is warm (80s!) and sunny. I now have a slight sunburn. It'll be rainy and 60 next week though...

Hi, Tricia! It'd be a real trick to get a sunburn around here today!! Windburn and frostbite, maybe...

I'm so excited! I've been running around this weekend and hadn't seen that the Sneaky monikker stuck! How thrilling. Think I'll have me a Milkshake to celebrate. Stay warm, baggie. There's a rumor in the almanac that spring is still coming.

Sorry you didn't get more ideas for dealing with your back. Is some diligent rest and recuperation between therapy definitely out given the busy season? Back muscles just love it. Maybe you could pencil some into your calendar for when the weather and the livestock and the plantings allow : )

Hi, Clare - yes, everyone seemed to agree that Sneaky was the perfect name, so it stuck!
And, unfortunately, calving season isn't the best time to be laid up with back troubles, so the Bag lady just has to "suck it up!"
