The Bag Lady has been so busy, she hasn't had time to update you on all the calves being born, so here are a few of the newest.

The girls definitely outnumber the boys this year, although there are still about 6 cows that haven't calved, so the numbers may even out a little yet.

This hawk spent so long on the ground in the same position that the Bag Lady finally went to see whether it was injured. S/he was fine; simply guarding the afterbirth buffet. S/he allowed the Bag Lady to get fairly close before reluctantly flying off to a nearby tree. The Bag Lady trudged back to the house and when she looked out the window awhile later, the hawk was back on the ground!

You have been busy, and so have the cows!
Still plenty of new calves around here, but all I have to do is look at them as I drive past.

Leah - yeah, it's thinking shoulda stayed inside where it was warm!
Awww. look at those beautiful babies! My grandmother used to raise cows too. When a calf was born, she named them after her grandchildren. So, yes, there was an "Aleta" out there Lol. She would call them by name and they would come to her. No kidding!
She also used to have chickens, roosters, turkeys and a huge veggie garden. She still has the garden, but in her late 80's, she can't take proper care of the animals, so those were given away to her neighbors.
Aleta - that is too cute! I try not to name them until I know whether we'll keep them! Otherwise, it's too hard to let go. And when I do name them, it's usually because of some attribute (long horns? Her name is Texas.)

Awwww, BABIES!! They are adorable, and wow, did you ever get some brand new baby pictures! I had fun sharing them with my animal-lover 12yo son. (It also gave me opportunity to explain afterbirth. My boys have never really wanted to know about birthin' babies, so I try to sneak in knowledge wherever I can.)

Bag Lady, I think it's called drive-by farming: I look at other people's fields and crops and cows, and watch their progress, and admire them, but I don't have to lift a finger.
