The Bag Lady has been enjoying some lovely sights the past few days, and decided to share them with you. Her trip to town to work takes her through a river valley, and she was delighted to see fog her very first morning on her way to work (well, okay, perhaps "delighted" isn't exactly the word for what she felt when she spied that cloud hanging over the river in the valley, but the word she actually used is not fit for mixed company - and one that her mother would have frowned on!) She wasn't quite fast enough with the camera, so this was taken part of the way down the hill. When she was at the top of the hill, she could clearly see the other bank of the river, with the top of the cloud all puffy and white - like someone had filled the valley with whipped cream!
Yesterday morning was also foggy, but she didn't have to go to work, and the sunrise was really pretty through the trees:
The rays of light streaking through the trees and striking the fog made an interesting pattern:
And, lastly, here is how one of the Bag Lady's cats spent a goodly portion of yesterday, which turned out to be an absolutely glorious, hot day:
Wonder if he felt cool as a cucumber?

oooh now you have me wondering precisely what word yer mama would have frowned upon :)
does it rhyme with truck?
my own mom hath been known to drop a few trucks in her day...
have a great day at work!
Miz - LOL - I only heard my mother say that word (that rhymes with truck) once in her entire life....
Wanna hear a funny story? (okay, if you insist)
Years ago, we were sitting around the kitchen table, watching the huge snow flakes drift to the ground. Someone said it looked like mother goose plucking feathers. My sweet, well-mannered mother said, "I wish Mother Goose would PLUCK OFF!"
Beautiful fog pics, dfBag Lady. Well done. Love the Mother Goose story.
dfLeah - well you, as someone who actually knew mom, would well appreciate that story! She was not someone who used bad words very often!
The photo of the fog is something nice to look at, but not at all nice to drive through, I know.
As for the word, my grandmother was like your mother. In fact, no one in the family even knew that she knew that word until one day, when my grandfather pushed her too far.
He was demanding roast duck with the Thanksgiving dinner, along with turkey. She was trying to clean, and get everything ready to entertain the whole family, and he was sitting around watching her work, and bugging her about it.
Finally, someone drove her to the store (she never learned to drive) and she got all the last minute items she needed, and my sweet, gentle, never raised her voice grandmother yelled at him, "And I got your f***ing duck, too!"
He finally realized he had pushed her too far, and left the entertaining and menu totally up to her after that.
I've been seeing fog on the way to work, too, but it's been on the ridges, not in the river valleys. I spend most of my time cursing the idiots who drive through it without turning their lights on (we're not talking patchy fog, but several miles' worth).
That cat knows a good box when he sees one.

Pretty kitty! Cats do love a card board box, don't they?
I love fog in the mornings...not so nice to drive through, but beautiful for walking or staring.
I spent my sunday a lot like your kitty...well OK not in a box, but the lounging in the sun part pretty much filled int he rest :)
Messymimi - that cracked me up! She sounds like a great woman!
Mary Anne in Kentucky - I love looking at fog, just hate driving in it!
JavaChick - that must have been an exceptional box, 'cause he stayed in there most of the day!
Geo - good for you! Everyone needs a rest day once in awhile. I'm still working on how to fit everything into the day and be organized now that I'm back to work. The Rancher has been pitching in, though.
Squee! Kitty! He looks soooo relaxed!
It happens.
And those sunrise pics are glorious! My memory is trying very hard to come up with when I last saw a sight that beautiful.
BG - don't you wish you could sleep with such abandon?
kcinnova - thanks! We do have some glorious sunrises and sunsets around here!
Love the fog pics! And now I'm very entertained by your anecdote of your mother telling Mother Goose to pluck herself;)
Is that fog direct from Monsanto?
Being a dog person, I must admit that's not what I thought a catbox was. Oh well, city slickers, eh? Would you kindly edify me, (with pictures) what a cathouse is? Similar to a birdhouse, right?
Whenever I see fog I think of that poem:
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
~Carl Sandberg~
Oh how I love fog.. but when on foot.. and with camera in hand. You did a fine job of capturing its beauty, Baggie. And that kitty.. too adorable.
Funny how your mother and Messymimi's grandmother needed the permission of a rhyme (pluck and duck) to use such language. That made me chuckle
how went the MRI?
Cat rule #1 - all boxes/bags/pieces of paper of any sort on the ground BELONG TO THE CAT!
Cute pic!
love the pic of the sun peeking through the trees. so peaceful!
Charlotte - my mother was a lady in the true sense of the word, and very seldom used nasty words.
POD - actually, I think that particular fog was the true kind... actually a feat of nature. But it IS harvest time.....
Sparrow - cathouse = the sunporch attached to my house, but mostly in the winter!
Love that poem!
Hilary - yes, I much prefer the fog when I'm on foot, too.
Glad you got a chuckle out of the -uck rhymes! :)
Carla - went well - now we wait for the results (about a week).
Missicat - that is so true!
Glam - thanks - it was SO pretty, and changed every few minutes - I took lots of pictures! Silly me.
That kitty pic really made me smile.
Scrumpy - I'm glad! :)
Aaaah so lovely. That first photo reminds me of something from the tv show Lost. There's something a little supernatural about that mist!
Thanks, Sagan! It is eerie sometimes, to drive through that valley - all foggy down at the river, but the sun is shining once you get back to the top. Weird.
