Here's a Question....

When you wash your hands and there is a bath-size towel to dry them with, do you take it completely off the rack to use the center of the towel, or do you just dry your hands on the edge, then straighten it neatly on the rack again?

(In other words, is anyone else a fanatical neat freak like the Bag Lady?)

I do the latter! And I usually use the back side of the towel to dry my hands so there isn't any wetness apparent from the front for the next person. Go OCD!

PS> Thanks for catching my typo the other day!!

Hmmmm... I think I'm latter also. Either way I gotta have the towel perfectly straight after! Also with loo roll on a wall holder I have to have the part you pull to the front. (hard to describe that in English!!) I've been known to re-arrange others peoples loo roll :|

God, you'd die in this apartment. We don't even have a towel rail in the bathroom, just a couple of hooks on the back of the door for our bath towels, and one of those circle things for the hand towel to dry your hands. John doesn't understand the concept of straightened towels anyway so it'd be a lost cause.

I pretty much live in Christine's apt - sounds just like mine! Mine end up, well, sort of straight. Kinda sorta. If you look at it a certain way....

Oh Christine.... my house is a mess too and my husband generally just throws the towel back where he found it. Just cause I like things a certain way doesn't mean it happens! :)

I always dry them on the edge and then tidy it up again.

I can't think of an occasion when I had a bath size towel to dry hands on. With a hand towel, I am a straightness freak. Whether I take it off the rack or not depends on how dry I need to get my hands, but it must hang straight before I leave.
My kitchen hand towel hangs through the refrigerator handle. Even there it must hang evenly.

I'm all about taking short cuts: if it's at my house I'll just shake my hands off a few times and then wipe them on my pants/dog/furniture to dry. No point in messing up a perfectly good towel on myself! LOL

I use the edge of the towel, first to get the dirt off, then wash with soap, and wipe my hands on my pants, then use the edge of the towel and drop the whole thing on the floor in a wadded up soaked mess for whomever's home I happen to be in at that time. And I hope to gawd that whoever lives there explodes when they find it, and has to be put away in a nuthatch hospital and I can take over their home while they are gone.

I'm not a fanatical neat freak but I am passive aggressive. ;-)

BTW, I pooped my pants when I read your comment on my blog. I spit food out across the room and hit Chris with the food ammo.
It was cool.

Oh, I just wipe them on my pants. :)

(And man I totally love those air blade hand dryers from Dyson. I just used one last night at the movie theatre. I want one.)

The edge of course, unless I have washed up to my elbows (for surgery, of course).

We have those circle loop thingies in our bathrooms, so I use that hand-towel and then fluff and straighten it afterwards.
When I was a kid I used my bath towel and yes, I straightened it each time. I wanted it to look pretty!

If I'm at someone's home and their towels look too pretty to use, I dry my hands on my pants.

Using the edge of the towel and straightening. Glad I'm in good company there. When we remodeled the bathroon, I purposely did not get a "loopy" circular towel holder because it's impossible to make the towel look neat. That actually was a consideration. Funny.

I think I do the latter, but I'm confused about the concept of using the "edge" of the towel. I use most of what's hanging down. I don't worry about leaving it dampish because nobody else uses it.

And I leave it pretty straight.

Why do you ask, O Bag Lady?

Well, it sounds like the majority of us are just a wee bit OCD!

Let me clarify - in my bathroom, I have two towels, folded in the center and hanging side by side. I hang them so the folded edges are together, everything is exactly the same length and they are perfectly aligned. (Shut up - I can't help it!)
When I dry my hands, I use the back side (waves at Charlotte!) and make sure they are perfectly aligned before I leave the bathroom.
Not naming any names, but the other two people currently residing in this house do not show the same consideration. Nor do they care if they splash water all over the countertop beside the sink, or leave the soap in a dirt-streaked puddle of soap goo.... sigh.
POD - please come and visit me and drive me over the brink so I can get some rest at a nice, quiet place.....

All your comments today made me smile, and I really needed that! Thanks, everyone!

You're a wild one, Baggie. But I live on the edge.. of the towel that is.

Hilary - you, too?!

If it makes you feel any better, no one else takes care of the towel or sink in my house... and there are 5 other people.
I almost hate to bother cleaning the bathroom sink, because the next thing I know, it is splashed all over with dirty water and the towel is streaked with dirt as well. Or food. I blame most of it on my 9yo who practically lives outside, but my husband isn't much better. I have to change out the hand-towel in the bathroom daily (at least!!).

Maybe it is a testosterone problem?

uhoh
I will totally remember this for my visit.
I wash use and HOPE I REMEMBER TO STRAIGHTEN!
but am sure I do not :)

kcinnova - I'm sure you're right - it's gotta be the testosterone!

Miz - you, I would forgive! :)
