Shorts.

So, the Bag Lady has had trouble posting at her usual time all this week.... it isn't that she has nothing to post about, it's more a time-constraint issue.

Here are a couple of things she wanted to write blog posts about, but hasn't had time to devote to actually putting them into cohesive, intelligent, interesting form. (Like she ordinarily does. Hahahaha)

1) A rant about getting older. Does anyone else out there have to use Clearasil before they slather on the crater-filling, wrinkle-reducing night cream? Sheesh.

2) A rant about the economy. Meh, forget it.

3) A rant about reading the news on-line, and the two articles that were one above the other - the first was an article about a fellow who jumped over Horseshoe Falls in a suicide attempt, and they used a helicopter to rescue him. He refused to hang onto the life-preserver they offered him, and actually swam away from the helicopter, so they used the wash from the chopper blades to create an artificial wave to push him to shore where he could be pulled to safety by volunteers who risked their lives to save his!

The second article was about a soldier who was killed in Afghanistan. In a perfect world, these two guys could have traded places. The suicidal fellow could have gone to his 'reward' and the young soldier could have gone home to his family.

4) The Bag Lady has been putting together a video for your enjoyment, but it is taking her a really long time. She might get a chance to work on it over the weekend, and if anyone is still reading her boring old blog by next week, they might get to enjoy it.

She hopes everyone has a great weekend, and fully intends to enjoy the warmer weather that her area has been blessed with, even though she has no intention of putting on the article of clothing that her lame post title refers to....

Embrace getting older, df Bag Lady.
It's cheaper.
The suicidal folks should join the army. Although, they might put the non-suicidals in danger. The Horseshoe fella ought to be slapped.

I had a similar thought about the guy who wanted his life to end and the soldier whose life did end. But trade places? No thanks. The last thing our military needs is nut jobs on their side. This kid was from my town, the same age as my son and though not an officer, his lives details were just too close to home for me. I shake whenever another soldier travels the Highway of Heroes.

The commenters above are correct: we don't need crazies in the military. We need folks committed to doing a good job.
I've already warned my kids that skin care is life-long. Combination skin? No joke!

Boring Old Blog!!! What a great name for a blog!

My take on the suicide is: why the heck were they risking their lives to save this guy? He wanted to be dead!!! Don't blame him for avoiding them! It's not as though they hadn't been warned. I'll bet he was pissed.

And I just can't get started on the troops thing. It's my belief that this war is a crime.

On a more superficial note: I have hardly any wrinkles (I'm 60) and I have pretty much shied away from creams and stuff all my life. I've stayed out of the sun and fed my skin from the inside.

Several years ago, my face started breaking out in peculiar red dots, some pretty whopping. I looked like a freak. Turned out to be a form of acne rosacea, and I got treatment and everything is fine now! You might check it out. It happens to aging women sometimes.

dfLeah - yeah, the suicidal guys would put the rest of them in danger. And I am embracing getting older, I just don't want to look older than my years! :)

Hilary - I didn't exactly mean that the suicidal guys should join the armed forces, I just meant that it was a shame that the guy who wanted to be dead wasn't, and the young soldier was. I truly wish there was no need for a Highway of Heroes in the first place!

kcinnova - no, we don't need crazies in the military! There are enough crazies everywhere else.

Melissa - maybe I should change the name of my blog? :)

It's only the past little while that I've really noticed the wrinkles.... too much time spent in the sun in the last few years.

And all that freakin' laughing over the years!! Sheesh, if only I'd known....
The Clearasil is for the damned blackheads. The joys of combination skin. Dry where it wrinkles, oily T section. Dang it all!

Hurray, video!

That's really sad about those two articles. Life is so precious.

PS My mum swears by Olay moisturizer ;)

Sagan - listen to your mom! Start now with the moisturizer, stay out of the sun, eat well, get plenty of exercise, drink lots of water. Oh, wait, I think I'm preaching to the choir... you already do all those things! :)

The getting older thing is still something I am trying to come to grips with, Bag Lady, but, I've realized the alternative! The guy who fell over the falls obviously had motives. Why did they waste all the time, money and effort into making him float back to shore when he was resisting it? What are they going to do tomorrow when he decides to do it again?! It's sad the soldier's life had to be taken and sometimes they are just about on their way home. What about the high school student who went back in seemingly to shoot as many women teachers and high school girls before taking his own life?! My belief is that he is trying to make a record for being the one who shot the most, but, then he takes his own life! Go figure people in this world sometimes!

Redbush - I have long since given up trying to figure out what motivates those people who indiscriminately shoot up crowded places. And then take the coward's way out by killing themselves.
And as far as rescuing that guy who went over the falls - it's human nature, I guess, to try to save someone - even when they don't want to be saved.

Now you've got me thinking. (I hate it when that happens ;)
Seems to me the thing to do would be to introduce the suicidal people to the crowd killer people and let them make each other happy.
That's a very strange thought to have thunk.

the Bag Lady said...

Merry - I don't think that thought you thunk is any stranger than the thoughts the crowd-killers think.

Such a timely post as I noticed a huge pimple on my 44 year old chin today. *sigh*

Pimples and wrinkles is just one more of life's cruel little jokes.

They should make the suicidal fellow pay for the costs involved in rescuing him. Although I've never understood why it is illegal to off yourself - one of those religious carry overs I think.

Sad about the young soldier and the news always seems to position stories like these two together.

I hope the warm weather comes here.....we have been in a cold snap over a week now and it actually snowed a tiny bit this morning! Spring Break is this week for the kids but how fun is that if you are stuck inside!

Wow, #3 is just... well, sadly ironic. I am looking forward to your video post!

I think #3 speaks for itself BL. I so wish the two could have switched places. That's very sad. I look forward to your vids - they're fun.

New post up at my place: I was a good student and completed my "L" assignment! :)

I'm not too worried about getting old on the outside--it's the inside aging that's bothering me. Painful joints with increasing stiffness in spite of 25 years of yoga. Drat!
