More Excuses

The Bag Lady has been rather neglectful of her blog lately - she has had a lot going on in her life - but nothing very blogworthy. The Rancher's uncle is in the hospital, and there has been much running hither and yon.

She is also trying to get some cleaning done.... how is it that she can always find things to do that take precedence over washing walls and windows and dunging out closets?

The worst part is that her 'busy season' hasn't even started yet! The cows have not started calving, but it is imminent. And of course, that means that the Bag Lady still has to wander out to the pasture and check on them every so often, just in case one of them has problems. She is hoping that they hold off for a little while longer because, although the weather has been moderate, she wants it to be warmer for the calves.

She has one more day to get her picture framed and entered into the competition. She is obsessing over the frame.... keeps painting it to make it exactly the right colour to complement the photo, rather than take away from it. Before too long, there will be so much paint on it, it will be too heavy to hang on the wall.....

She is also a little worried about the computer virus that is supposed to be unleashed tomorrow. Does anyone know more about it? She heard something about it, but missed most of the report on the radio.

In my world everything takes precedence over washing the walls and whatnot.
I hope everything goes well with the calving.

Not much to say about the Conficker worm other than update all your antivirus programming. And if you go looking for info about it on the web there's a good chance you'll get the infection.
I'm sore tempted to stay off the Interchoobs tomorrow.

There's an imminent computer virus? Shows what I know (nothing, in case you were confused). Guess I'll just stay off the computer and clutch a bag of M&M speckled eggs as comfort instead, because we all know that spring cleaning doesn't bring much comfort, even if it *IS* rather necessary.

Sorry to hear about the Rancher's Uncle.

Distressed off-white frame??

I think the virus thingy is a hoax perosonally. Mainly as *everyone* I work with has heard of it but noone knows anything about it. NO details at all.
As long as you have antivirus updated on your computer I imagine you are OK...just don't go anywhere unusual or download anything tomorrow and it should be fine :)

dfLeah - I have managed to procrastinate regarding washing walls for a couple of weeks now....
should be able to put it off for another few days!
I'm tempted to stay off the computer tomorrow, too.

kcinnova - The frame I bought is black. I didn't like it, so I painted the inside piece of the frame gold (with orange undertones) I think it's going to work.

Geo - I hope you're right. There was a radio program on CBC this morning about it, but I missed most of the program. Sigh.

Sorry to hear about Uncle. Just make sure your anti-virus is up to date. It could just be a hoax, why would they put a release date on a virus? Good luck with the framing.

Thanks, Reb. I am inclined to think it's a hoax, too, because isn't part of a virus the "surprise present" part?
Thanks, I hope it looks okay when I get done fiddling with it!!

Been updating my virus software...hopefully won't be affected. According to snopes.com, it is a real thing!!!

the Bag Lady said...

Missicat - yes, I just checked on Snopes - now I'm wondering if I should download the Microsoft program that's supposed to get rid of the worm if my computer is infected.

Bag Lady - as long as your antivirus software is current, you shouldn't have anything to worry about tomorrow. Besides, a security team for Norton has reverse engineered the virus and says that it's not as potent as is being reported. It's the viruses that we DON"T know about we should be losing sleep over;)

Missicat said...

Came back to say what Charlotte said - heard that it most likely won't be as horrendous as they report. Whew!

The only thing I read was, if you already have the virus, it can do damage when it hits. Sounds like, it was already implanted in some computers waiting for the day. lol

I'm with Geo. I think its a hoax.

I think you'll find the right color, and it will turn out just beautiful.

Take a picture of the picture and frame?

Wishing warmer weather on you for the calves. The picture frame will look wonderful! You're going to show it to us, yes?

the Bag Lady said...

Charlotte - that's the problem. My Norton has expired.... sigh. But I downloaded something from Microsoft that was supposed to check for the worm, and apparently I don't have it. So now I can go back to worrying about the viruses we don't know about! :)

Missicat - thanks for letting me know!

Maggie - I did some researching, and found that too, so hopefully everything will be okay.

Sagan - Thanks! Yes, I shall take a picture of the picture.... as strange as that sounds! Probably have it posted tomorrow. If I can stop painting the damned frame, that is! :)

Sorry to hear about Unc. I'm usually out of the viral loop and rarely worry about them. And often hug my Mac.

Paint it black! .. the frame, not my Mac. ;)

the Bag Lady said...

Hilary - it WAS black! It didn't look right.... still not sure it looks right, but I'm running out of time! Sigh.

I hadn't even heard about the virus! Thanks for the warning. Will update my antivirus software.

(I've been to hither and yon too, and I have to say they're both overrated.)

the Bag Lady said...

Crabby - I agree - hither and yon are not all they are cracked up to be...... :)

cant wait to hear what you decided, BL.

I liked the frame!!

and our Dear Friend Meal Mixer? What did she think?

xo xo,

Miz, who likes to shove her head in the sand when it comes to virus launching.
