Wednesday Whatnots

There's been so much going on lately around the old stump ranch that the Bag Lady doesn't know what to share with you! The Cowboy and the Bag Lady have been working on hauling the hay home. There are different flowers in bloom again, but a lot of the flower bed is looking pretty sad because it is so dry.

We are heading into another heat wave - it's supposed to reach 32C (90F) here today, and stay warm into the weekend. We have had very little rain this summer and it is apparent in the yard and garden.

Here is a photo of a day lily - see how dry the chives are in the background?

The Bag Lady hopes to have a few minutes sometime soon to devote to putting together a proper post. She wants to share more of the ranching side of things with you, but although she has a lot of raw film footage, she hasn't had time to do any editing yet! She's been driving the truck and trailer whilst the Cow Whisperer loads the hay onto it. Soon, hopefully, she'll have time to sit down and cobble together a little video for you.

In the meantime, here is a picture of the sun setting last night.

Hope the hay haul goes well and you get a chance to catch your breath.

We've had so much rain here this past month.. wettest on record, or so they say. I'd share if I could.

Nice sunset.. ooooh and ahhh-worthy! :)

i love sunsets!!!! They make me feel at peace ;)

I second the request for singing! :-) Love sunsets, unfortunately I am so tired I am rarely up to see them!

Miz - no singing involved, but perhaps I can add some.

TA - just heard on the radio news that they are considering declaring our area a disaster area as far as the crops go. It is terrible to see the grain dying in the fields, especially as the prices are the highest they've been in a long time.

dfLeah - thanks. We finally finished up last night.

Hilary - thanks, I wish you could share, too! And thanks for the oohs and aahs.

New*me - I feel the same - sunsets and sunrises - love them both!

Missicat - I can certainly relate to being tired lately! I'll see what I can do about the singing.... :)

Dear BL-

I have a teeny little acreage (.18), so a little nightly sprinkling is supposed to keep the flowers, herbs, and hedges happy. Well, it seems like all summer the darn things have been failing and/or resetting themselves. From Ma Nature, we'll get lashing rain (yay) then baking heat for days. My way of saying I getcha: everything in my garden also has that overblown August frowse.

Clare - mine is embarrassing! Not only do the flowers look all wilted and sad, the foxtail seems to have taken over everywhere! Damned weeds.
Nice to know I'm not alone, though.

We've got a rainy not-too-warm day going here, which is a nice break from a fairly hot summer.

Hope you get at least a sprinkle soon! A "disaster area" is not a good thing!

Thanks, Crabby! With the hot weather we've got right now, chances are we'll at least get a good thunderstorm eventually. No rain in the forecast until Sat. or Sunday, I think. Sigh. (Not complaining about the heat, though, 'cause I know that all too soon, it'll be cold again!)

I feel like I've been gone forever you've put up so many new posts! I'm sorry to see you've had problems uploading pictures to blogger as well...maybe they should get that fixed if they don't want us all to leave! It shoulds like your life has been as hectic as mine lately! Thank you for (unlike me) taking the time to post on a consistent basis!

No rest for the wicked, hm? :) You have such nice pictures!

Your lily is pretty Sis! I forgot to dead head my violas and they have all gone to seed. On the other hand, I will have violas next year :) So will the grass, along with last years poppies! Lovely sunset - I see you had no clouds last night either.

Hi, Emily - I do try to be consistent, but gosh, there's so much more I'd like to share and simply don't have time to put into a coherent post!

Sagan - guess I'm going to have to stop being so wicked so I can get a little blogging done... :)

Reb - Thanks, the lilies are suffering a little in the heat. And so is your fat old sister! But she is not complaining!!
