Another Video!

The Bag Lady finally got around to editing another video for you. She's been doing all sorts of things lately - fencing, gardening, making jelly, freezing garden produce, sewing CartSmart bags, drinking beer and partying , working hard. Really.

wow! How much do those bales weigh? Do they get tucked in when they go home? :-)

Excellent video, dfBag Lady. You've made ranch work entertaining again. Good choice of music.

Mizfit - the toddler is too cute!

Missicat - the bales weigh a lot - around 800 or 900 lbs, (I'm guessing)
They get tucked-INTO by the cows in the winter ;)

dfLeah -Thanks - I was hoping someone would find the music amusing...

Once more my horizons are expanded. I've never seen bales stacked with the bottom row on end like that--not here or in North Carolina or Tennessee or Alabama. Is there a climate-related reason for that, or local custom, or eccentric machinery?

and once again the last few seconds wouldn't load; it stopped right as the credit for the music was about to roll, and that's a version of 6 Days that I've never heard before.

Video won't load for me :(
I will have to imagine it instead!
*closes eyes tight and imagines Bag Lady flinging hay bales across the fields whilst singing to Country and Western songs and maybe playing banjo with her feet*
Will check back later, hopefully the internet will be more agreeable then!

Mary Anne - ordinarily, he stacks it on it's side; three on the bottom, then two, then one, but our own tractor is broken down, and he borrowed that little tonka toy from a friend. The smaller tractor wouldn't reach high enough to make his regular stack.....and the bales were almost as heavy as the tonka toy!
That version of Six Days was by Dave Dudley. I wanted to use "Hey, Hey, Good Looking", but didn't have it on CD.....

TA - that totally cracked me up! (I'm still snickering) Your version was far better than mine!!!
How did you know I can play the banjo with my feet? :)

We need hay-eating cow video! :-) It's so interesting to see a different world - must get my video skills up to date and show you some of Washington, D.C. Will be a tiny bit different....

Missicat - when the snow flies, I'll try to make a hay-eating video. Actually, when there's snow here, I'd rather make a beach-lying video....
I'd love to see a video of life in Washington, as long as it doesn't include the politicians! See enough of that shit on the news....:)

I want to drive one of those around now and lift hay bales! I'd feel so mighty and powerful doing it, I'm sure. Hehe. Great video, as per usual!

Sagan - when you come for a visit, I'll teach you how to drive the loader (very similar to a car) and the tractor (not as similar to a car)and you can do all my chores whilst I sit on the veranda in my rocking chair, sipping something yummy....hehehehe

Bag Lady- My husband is envious of all the cool 'toys' y'all have around there, I have been directed to show him any video's containing farm equipment (takes him back to growing up on his grandparents cattle farm.) Some time I will show you the land he grew up on (which sadly is now a neighborhood.)But you still get the idea. How much land do y'all have for your farm?

the Bag Lady said...

Emily - we have a quarter-section. We also farm (hay only, no grain farming) hubby's mother's quarter, and about 40 acres on another quarter she owns.
Plus we lease summer pasture from the gov't, which is over 800 acres.

I shall have to take more photos of all the other equipment we have around here to satisfy your hubby's craving for 'toys'.... the old, old tractor; the old, old combine; the old, old, old (living amongst the trees where it has been abandoned) thrashing machine... antique plow... old seed drill....

: ) I noticed! It was very edge-of-the-seat when it tipped forward!

Great video as always Sis! Your music selections are spot on!

the Bag Lady said...

Mary Anne - you should have been here in real life. I was laughing so hard when I first saw that tractor in proportion to the bales.....

Reb - thanks, sis! I have a limited selection of CD's to chose from....

**must not have hit the "o" hard enough the second time - I know the difference between chose and choose, honest!**

That's a huge area(s) to farm...it is just you and the Cowman (or whatever he goes by now) that do all the work? No wonder you're busy all the time! I don't see how you have time to blog every day : ) But we must have our priorities, right?!?

the Bag Lady said...

Emily - yes, it's just the two of us, and we are exhausted most of the time! :) (Well, he is, 'cause he also has a very demanding job off the ranch!)
That's why I occasionally miss a day of blogging....
