Wednesday Wonderings

The Bag Lady is wondering about a few things, most of them totally unconnected.

Why do cats insist on sitting in your lap right after you change your clothes? Do they have some sixth sense - "she is not covered with cat hair - must remedy that immediately in case she wants to do something ridiculous like cook a meal, or go to town..."

Why, when you have a medical concern, do friends and neighbours suddenly pop out of the woodwork with horror stories like "I knew a fella had that...lost all the blood in his body... had to have transfusions...almost died. You should...blah, blah, blah" Do they think you don't look sufficiently worried?

Why do your bills automatically come due the day before you remember to pay them?

Why, when the phone rings, and you have three cordless phones in the house, is the one you finally track down and answer always the one with the nearly dead battery?

Why is it that the day you decide to wear a white blouse, is also the day you spill your coffee down your front as soon as you are far enough away from home not to be able to change?

Why, when you have just completed washing the floor, does someone open the door and let the muddy dog come galloping in?

Why, when you are introducing two people, do you always forget one of their names, regardless of how well you know it?

** These are all things that have happened to the Bag Lady recently, so it is obvious, isn't it, that Murphy's Law rules her life?!**

Oh, now, it's good to lead a lawful life.
People delight, absolutely delight, in revelling in the awful.
Now how can you possibly be suffering enough when you haven't heard about...who had the same thing and well, you know what happened to him!
The worst part is they probably think they mean well.

dfLeah - you wouldn't believe the things we have heard recently...
**shudder**

Great list! I can SO relate to those.

One that drives me crazy? I always get the grocery store line that looks to be the shortest but contains the person with some Big Complication that takes two checkers and a store manager to sort out.

Crabby - I can so relate. I feel I have some sort of gypsy "grocery-line" curse hanging over me - invariably I will get stuck behind the geezer paying in pennies....after of course arguing about the price of EVERYTHING.

And about the cats...you belong to them, they do NOT belong to you.

Crabby - Oh, yes, the Bag Lady forgot the grocery line curse!! Never fails, even if there is only one person in front of you...
The Bag Lady's curse is so bad that even if she is FIRST in line, the till tape runs out or something, so she always has to wait!!

And yes, missicat, that's true - people are just warm furniture to cats!

Why, when I went to bed last night at 21.00, did I still sleep through the alarm and wake with only a half hour to get ready for work? (8.30) Gotta go!

Baglady - we must have the same little black cloud over our heads...the tape running out ALWAYS happens to me. Or the computer goes down, electricity goes off, etc...

This is why I no longer wear white anywhere nice...it is tempting the gods of slobbery. :)

Good list, Baggie.. and very true. Another one which is not a bad thing but just an interesting observation. Why is it that when you hear a word, term or concept for the first time ever, you then hear or read about it several more times that same day or week? Or does this just happen to me?

You need spring and a vacation!

Reb - blame that fancy, comfy new bed! :)

Missicat - I get the feeling that we are twins, separated at birth...

Geosomin - I really should know better, but it was the only thing in the closet that came even close to fitting. Sigh.

Hilary - that is so true. At least, I know it happens to me, too.

SB - ah, yes. Spring, and a vacation would be lovely!! (or even just one or the other!)

lol You aren't kidding! Do people realize that you put the dogs out of the house to be able to wash the floor and admire it a moment before the muddy dogs come romping in? Of course not.

Mary - sounds like you've been there!!
