The Bag Lady is slowly getting her computer back to normal. She is still mourning the loss of a few programs, but will eventually find something to replace them. Apparently there are word processing packages that can be downloaded from the Internet, so she will eventually try that solution.
She's been casting about for something to share with you today, and hasn't come up with very much! The weather here has warmed up enough that she has the window beside her open, and is listening to the birds heralding the rising sun! There is a flock of redpolls sitting in a little tree outside her window, and they are trilling and calling to each other. One of the best things about living in the country is that you can hear, see, and smell nature. Although the smelling part is sometimes not all it's cracked up to be! Fortunately, it's still too early for the worst of the odours. In a few weeks when the winter pile-up of manure starts to thaw, the smell will be unpleasant, to say the least! The Cowboy's uncle used to say it was the smell of money, but in these times of poor cattle prices, the Bag Lady says it's the smell of money down the drain....
But the Bag Lady is grateful for the ability to smell. Leah, over at the Goat's Lunch Pail (link in the sidebar) mentioned olfactory senses in her Gratitude Monday post yesterday, and it got the Bag Lady thinking about odours. She posted awhile ago about her favourite smells, but today she is thinking about the most offensive. One of the worst smells, to her, is the smell of horse manure. To her mind, it is worse than cow manure, which is quite unpleasant in it's own right!
Other odours she hates are garbage, vomit, and car exhaust.
What are your least favourite smells?
**the Bag Lady is really scraping the bottom of the barrel with this post, isn't she?**

Please excuse Leah from participating as she has a weak stomach.
And thanks for the mention.
Well, for foul fecal odors I think I have to vote for the carnivorous species over the horses and cows. Domestic animals and humans being at the top of the list. That and Dead Things are the worst.
Ewwww is all I can say.
df Bag lady,
I bet the bottom of that barrel you're scraping has a pretty rancid smell.
Terrie
Sorry, don't know what possessed the Bag Lady! Maybe tomorrow she'll post about perfume, or something more pleasant...
dfLeah - you're excused.
Crabby - that's true. Dead things are really foul.
dfTerrie - too funny - that's exactly what the Bag Lady was thinking when she wrote that!
Pig manure.
I'm not saying cow/horse barns smell good, but pig barn smells worse.
Sauerkraut...one of those tramatizing events as a kid that still haunts you 20 years (and probably more) later.
Sorry your computer was sick!
Javachick - oh, yeah! Have to agree with you there...pig manure is even worse than horse.
Emily - sorry to hear you had a trauma involving sauerkraut!!
Thanks for your condolences regarding the computer troubles. I am slowly getting them tamed, but still have some kinks to work out.
Due to some questionable medical cures for tummy problems I had as a kid, I cannot stand the smell of molasses!
But did the molasses fix your tummy troubles? If so, it was probably worth it.
Well, the smell of bananas is rather disgusting. Along with garbage and rotting things. Bad body odor or the smell of unwashed hair really gag me though.
Gee, Reb, I was pretty sure you'd include the Bag Lady's perfume choices, too! How two gals raised together could have such different perfume preferences baffles me.
Came in here to say sauerkraut, but Emily beat me to it. How can anyone eat something that smells like that??? ewwwwwww Also cannot stand the smell of cabbage, which makes St. Paddy's Day a real treat for me!
Missicat
Missicat - boiled cabbage is a nasty smell, isn't it? Another of the smells the Bag Lady doesn't like is vegetable soup. Smells like body odor to her - vile!
And I agree with you and Emily - how can anyone put that stuff in their mouth!?
Ah, yes but I just accept that it is my allergy to perfume that influences my preferences that way.
Oh..I definitely have one - the smell of tomatoes when they're cooking up that fills up the house and then grows to a hideous crescendo when you can them.
*bleargh*
Geosomin - pickling beets is pretty bad, too, isn't it? That sharp vinegar smell...
