The response to the "name that calf " contest has been great! Now the Bag Lady is going to let you choose the name. Listed below are the entries (in no particular order) and she would like you to vote for your choice. You don't have to have an entry in the contest in order to vote, so make your choice and let the Bag Lady know.

She will turn on the comment moderation, so you won't see your comment come up. The Bag Lady will tally up the votes over the weekend and publish the name on Monday. She will publish any comments that aren't related to the vote. Here are the choices:

1. Milkshake

All great names! Perhaps you should write them all down and put them in a circle around the calf and let her choose herself?

Oh--wait, her mother is the fearsome and protective White Bitch... perhaps not.

That calf is unudderably cute.
And so brave! Staring down that other cow.

Crabby - great idea. Or, maybe not.

dfLeah - you'd be brave too, if White Bitch was your mama! And yeah, she is pretty cute, but the Bag Lady says that about all the calves.

adorable little thing!

Reb - yes she is. When the Bag Lady went out to feed this morning, the calf was running and bouncing around so much, the Bag Lady was afeared she would be trampled!! :)

I meant to ask what breed your cows are? The look like Charolais which we do have here in NZ but I'm sure you have lots of exotic breeds over there. I looked after a lot of Charolais crossbred calves one season and they were the dumbest calves I've ever come across. Big, gorgeous and stupid!

Dawn - we have quite a mixed bag of breeds. We started out with Herefords, mostly, but have been slowly weeding them out because of the udder troubles. We still have a couple Herefords, but we also have some Simmental (we are also trying to get rid of them because of their attitude!), some Salers, Angus, and Charolais. We have been using a Gelvbieh bull for the last couple of years, but in the past we have also had a Hereford bull, and a Salers bull.

I do know what you mean about the Charolais being dumb! When we bought the Charolais cows, they were all bred to a Charolais bull. BIG calves, but sheesh, we had to help most of them find out where to get that first drink! The Salers and Gelvbieh are much better about jumping up and finding that milk spout!

(OMG, I've done it again - written a novel in answer to a simple question...)
