Hello? Is Anyone There?

The Bag Lady is back. Sort of. She is not very happy with the computer place. They told her they had to completely wipe out her computer and re-install everything. Well, it certainly was wiped off, anyway. She now has absolutely NO word processing package, can't get onto her homepage at all and the computer is about 10 times slower than it was before she took it in to them.
She has used this place in the past - in fact, she bought her computer from them, but she is not at all impressed with them this time. Of course, it is too late tonight to do anything about it (which is probably a good thing for them, because by tomorrow she will have calmed down enough that they may escape with their lives) but she will definitely be calling them for an explanation tomorrow.

WTF? And they call that fixed?
Raise particular hell with them dfBag Lady. And don't forget to put a block under it!

Thanks, dfLeah. It is probably going to turn out to be the Bag Lady's fault. When they called her and told her they would have to wipe it and re-install, they said they would save her documents and photos. What she failed to ask them was if they were saving the programs, or just the photos and documents....

They shouldn't have deleted basic software applications. Did you give them (or did they ask for) your original install disks?

Hi, BG - They deleted everything!

I'm pretty sure that what they did was used the original install disks. (I bought the computer from them, and they have all the disks required.)

Unfortunately, my word processing package was one I added because it wasn't included. I never thought to ask...so mostly it's my own fault.

The part that upsets me the most is that the disk I used for the Word application was one that was limited to only 3 installations, and I had borrowed it from someone.

I also can't remember what I've done with the Kodak stuff ( can't even remember if there was a disk), so I can't download pictures from my camera, either.

I was so angry last night, I couldn't sleep!

I just sent you an email on how to fix some of the problems Sis. You didn't mention that it was slower though, that is something they need to look at again.

Thanks, Reb! I have calmed down considerably, and have discovered that I can still download photos from my camera, but the Kodak program is gone. I must have mistakenly thrown out the disk in a fit of cleaning...which is precisely why I usually save everything. Sigh.

booo! I can't believe they wiped it without asking you??? Very unprofessional!

Sarah - the worst of it is they did tell me! When he told me they would save my photos and documents, I failed to ask if he meant I would still have the programs. So it's my own fault. Well, partly. He should have asked me if I still had the disks to put all my programs back in - THAT would have been professional of him.

My Papi fixes everything computer related around here. I've lost many iTunes files and pictures from crashing computers and my laziness that stopped me from backing stuff up properly.

Next time the Bag Lady has a problem, she's calling your Papi, then!!
The Cowboy hates computers, thinks they are the devil's tool and refuses to have anything to do with them.
He may be onto something.

df Bag Lady,

There is nothing worse than going through all this nonsense but I hesitate to agree with your complaints, because if my computer thinks I am being uppity, well I don't want to think of what could happen.

dfTerrie - I know what you mean - I am always very careful about what I say when my 'puter can hear!
