Mellow Yellow

The Bag Lady and the Rancher took a trip yesterday to attend a birthday party for his sister. She lives about an hour north of the ranch, and the canola is in full bloom 'round these parts right now.

It is difficult to take good pictures from a moving vehicle, but these give an impression of how pretty it was on the drive home with the sun low in the sky. (These were taken around 10 pm)

The second pic is very dramatic. Good work getting them from a moving vehicle.

Thanks, cousin! I took quite a few, but most of them feature a telephone pole, or blurry fence posts....

If i had a drive like that, i'd look forward to seeing the in-laws!

The color is wonderful. The sky is still blue enough to look dramatic with the yellow. When mustard blooms here it's not quite a solid yellow, and people no longer grow it commercially, so there's not much of it.

Thanks, J! It was a very pretty drive!
Messymimi - these are great in-laws, so the pretty drive is just a bonus!
Mary Anne - I was surprised at just how much canola is being grown - seems to be a lot more than there used to be. Didn't see a whole lot of wheat or barley.
