The Bag Lady is trying to get into the spirit of the season.
She thought that perhaps she needed to do some cooking to spark her Christmas spirit. She has baked Shortbread cookies (they're all gone already..... must make more) and made a batch of chocolates, which have also all disappeared
So she is going to do some marathon baking tomorrow..... shortbread, chocolates, butter tarts (which means making pastry using homemade lard!) and perhaps some snacky things like Spicy Ritz Bitz. She loves these. They are easy and delicious, and disappear like magic!
In the spirit of the season, she is going to share a couple recipes with you. Don't even TRY to count the calories in the chocolates. Really.
Spicy Ritz Bitz
2/3 C olive oil
1/2 tsp dill weed
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp lemon pepper
1 full pkg Uncle Dan's Original South Salad Dressing
1 box Ritz Bits mini crackers
Combine all ingredients, spread on cookie sheet and bake at 300F for 15 minutes.
Butterscotch Peanut Butter Chocolates
Melt together 1 pkg each of
Chocolate chips
butterscotch chips
peanut butter chips
Add
2 cups crushed potato chips (I know, I know, a health food blog this is not!)
Press into mini candy cups (the little foil or paper ones that look like muffin cups)
OR
drop by teaspoon onto wax paper.
Allow to cool (if you can wait that long)

Oh, nom. Those sound good.
Happy baking day.
Thanks, cousin!
They do sound good, especially the chocolates. This might even beat the peanut butter butterscotch crisp rice treats the family loves.
I swore I wouldn't set foot in the grocery until after Christmas but I think...I think...I need some peanut butter chips.
Mary Anne in Kentucky, drooling
messymimi - I tried the chocolates before I knew what was in them - big mistake! They are soooooo gooooood!
Mary Anne in Kentucky - you won't regret it. Unless you're like me and are 'forced' to eat them all yourself...... because no-one else knew where they were hidden! :)
and CHOCOLATE DROOOOL.
That snack mix sounds fantastic.
Yum...
Miz - not exactly healthy, but damned tasty!
Geo - the snack mix is really, really good!
Sounds good Sis! I hope your spirit catches you soon!
Thanks, Reb - so do I!! :)
Please to come do my baking.
Marianne - is it warmer at your house? It's cold here.....
Both those recipes look awesome. Potato chips and chocolate is just a bit bizarre but it actually sounds good. I will be making both of these recipes. Thank you very much, my dear!
