Ode to Old

Fifty three:

the odd pain in the knee
....
constantly feeling the need to pee
(especially when I laugh or sneeze!)
......
but I can clearly see
---
the alternative, I'd rather not be.

So, okay, the Bag Lady is not much of a poet, but she did survive another birthday.

Edited to add: Thanks, Hilary, for this:

Glad my terrible poetry made you smile!

You're only as old as you feel! I'm 36 but we replaced mattresses yesterday at the hotel I work for, 110 beds total! I feel really old today! :) But come Christmas morning I'm going to be 10 again! :)

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday.

Oops, sorry, Mary Anne! :)

Book Nut - After changing 110 mattresses, anyone would feel a little old!

Gail - thanks!

Good one, Bag Lady. I feel the same way and I'm a dewy-eyed young thing of 52.

Well done you old bag! :)
Each of those pains has been earned, just like the wrinkles, um, laugh lines!

I could have written that and I'm a few weeks shy of 45.
Let's just pretend we are young, hearty and hale, shall we?

the Bag Lady said...

Charlotte - I hate to break it to you - it just gets worse as you get older! :)

Reb - Yes, I've earned them all (and a few that I didn't really have to work all that hard for!)

kcinnova - I'm all for the pretending! Might even convince myself, for a little while, at least!

You are only as old
As you want to be
Act sixteen if you want
And it may make you feel seventy.

Happy Birthday with a poem, boy are you ever young!

congrats on the POTW

the Bag Lady said...

Out on the prairie - Thanks! Some days I still feel 16.... most days, not.

Reb - thanks, sis!

Isn't it an example of multi-tasking when you sneeze and pee at the same time?

the Bag Lady said...

Linda - YES! LOL(and thanks for making me multi-task.....)

A belated happy birthday wish from one of your elders. Hang onto that sense of humor. It's the only thing that's got a chance of gettin' better. :-\

And congratulations on your POTW!

Cheryl Kohan said...

Where have I been???? I just noticed you are a POTW so I had to come back to tell you congratulations! Well deserved, my friend.

June - thanks! The sense of humour is sometimes the only asset I have!

Cheryl - thank you!
