Monday, eh?

Just a quick post to give you a peek at the newest calf. She was a little camera-shy and kept moving behind her mother, so this was the best picture the Bag Lady could manage.

The Bag Lady had a very nice Easter weekend, with lots of food, family and friends. The weather was reasonable, but nowhere near as warm as it was in the east, apparently! She saw the news reports about the record-setting temperatures in Ontario and Quebec, and was a wee bit envious. There are still patches of snow on the ground in the Bag Lady's yard, but it is slowly melting. There are even the odd little bits of greenery showing here and there, but no flowers yet.

What's it like where you are? Is spring in full blown glory?

Welcome, new cowlet.
Spring is getting there here. We had our first bit of Egyptian onion green of the year last night, and the rhubarb is up. Now all we need is some good spring rain(s).

Ah, yes, cousin - moisture would be welcome here, too. In spite of the patches of snow still on the ground, it is very dry.

Oh, yes - spring in its full "blowing" glory is more like it. For the last couple weeks, everything has been coated in yellow pollen and I'm having raging sinus issues.

I read in the papers that some parts of Canada saw some amazing Northern Lights last night. Any chance you got to see the show?

Awwww, that little "cowlet" (great word, Leah!) is as cute as can be! That mom looks pretty protective.

She's got pretty legs, at least.

Yes, spring is here, and the maple pollen is, too, so I won't be spending much time out of doors for a while.

Cute little calfee! Mama looks like she is licking it, so , must be a good mother. Do you name them when they are born? I agree that the weather has been unbelievable, but also envy those people including my sister who live down east. I would welcome flowers starting to bloom right now, but, wouldn't welcome the weeds that come with them!

Lots of flowers down here, and pollen to spare.

Are you still naming the calves? I love to see the pictures of them, whether you are or not.

I'm scared to say that spring has arrived in Winnipeg, because I THOUGHT that it had and I threw out my winter boots (they were falling to pieces), and then two days later it snowed.

The snow is gone now, but I am NOT tempting fate again :)

I would have SWORN I commented already but it's nowhere to be seen. Hmmmm. Well, what I THOUGHT I said was that this little cowlet (as your cousin called it...see, her comment isn't here, either...is as cute as a button or something to that effect. Maybe I'm just losing what little mind I have left? Scary thought.

Thanks, all!

Cheryl, you're not crazy - I don't know where they went, but there were several more comments here yesterday, and I was hoping to answer all of them. Time got away from me, and so, apparently, did the first few comments!
Messymimi - I don't think we will be naming the calves this year - unless someone wants to volunteer some names...? But I will try to post pictures of all of them.
(Where does the time go, anyway?)
