It's that time again! Calving season!
The first calf was born on Sunday, but the Bag Lady hasn't had a chance to get a picture of the little one until this morning, partly because she's been busier than a one-armed paperhanger, and partly because the calf's mother is very protective, and every time a human approaches, she takes the calf away!
The Bag Lady fed the cows this morning, and the calf was exploring while her mother was occupied checking out the hay bale. The Bag Lady managed to sneak up close enough to take a couple of pictures.
The Bag Lady has been busy at work, and is trying to get her house ready for the weekend, when she and the Rancher are hosting the family for Easter dinner.
What are your plans for Easter?

that's just about the cutest little calf ever. i want to nuzzle his little face! adorable!
easter plans include working out & hiding the eggs so Jesus can't find them. :)
i'm sure cuddle time with the nephews will be thrown in too, only after we thwart that egg stealing deity. that is why we hide the eggs, right?
Glam - I'm almost positive that's the reason we hide easter eggs.... :)
I love this calf. The face is so intense.
Easter? I'm baking a ham tomorrow.
A.dor.a.ble!! What a little cutie pie. Almost a cute as lambs (wink). Okay, just as cute...
We're going to my sister's for Easter dinner and it's also Jack's birthday. I think she's doing a ham and a turkey and I'm bringing a cake and a fruit salad. Yum.
That is such a sweet little calf. I"m going to show that to Hannah.
Ahhhhh! There really isn't anything cuter than a baby calf! Mama sounds quite protective. You'll have to watch your back. We don't want any repeats of anymore cow roundups! Ha!
That's one cute baby!
What a sweet little face!
No real plans for Easter, since my adult nieces were in town last weekend we had our gathering then. Will just relax and enjoy the weather - finally will be NICE!!
Adorable! But be careful, we lost a dear friend and neighbor recently because the cow did not want her around the calf.
Name her Easter! : )
Name her Easter! : )
Oops.
Aww what a great face.
Awwww! Your calf is making my uterus squee! I keep trying to tell it "WRONG SPECIES" but it doesn't listen.
LOL at Charlotte as the calfface merely makes this blogger want another dog.
preferably a GIANT BREED :)
I plan to torment you with a virtual easter basket. Go to my blog and grab it and do what I did, please? It raises money for the children's miracle network which I think provides chocolate for me. Pls!!!
What a beauty!
Easter here is church, followed by a baseball game for the children and Grandpa, a dinner out for me and Sweetie and Uncle P. and Grandma.
Church will involve a raw egg toss and raw egg relay race, along with the lessons, for 3-10 year olds. I expect it to get interesting.
Happy Easter :)
Can't believe it's calving time already...cute little guy!
This weekend I have a lull in life and my MSc so we're sneaking away for a day or two. Relaxing...it will be nice :)
OH MY GOODNESS!!! He's as cute as Baby Jack!!!! *dying of preciousness overdose*
What a cutie!
We're having Easter Brunch with quiche, fruit salad, sausages, and hot cross buns (I've never actually had hot cross buns before. It makes me want to play the song on my recorder from grade three...)
Have a lovely Easter :) What are you cooking?
Yea! I love when it's calving season. Have a wonderful Easter!
Thanks, everyone, for all your kind comments!
It's been a lovely, busy Easter weekend here.
Gail - I'm sorry to hear about your friend! We are always cautious around our cows when they have new babies!
Sagan - I cooked a ham and a prime rib roast.
ADORABLE!!! (sorry for shouting)
Hope you had a wonderful Easter and got off your feet for at least a while. We slept in, went to breakfast and the late service at church, hunted plastic eggs in the yard, roasted a turkey for supper, and took a lovely sunset walk.
I was always told that the Easter bunny hides eggs because he doesn't want anyone to know he's been sleeping with chickens.
