Due to circumstances beyond her control, the Bag Lady was unable to meet her commitment of having a table at the craft sale.
She will now have to wait until the next craft sale - she thinks there is an upcoming sale a little closer to home sometime this month.
So there will be no report on the sale. She can, however, report on fixing fences that have been torn down by elk, but she knows that is not very exciting, so she will spare you.
Hope everyone's weekend is going well. Hers is certain to improve, right?

Elk go through fences instead of over them like deer? Now you have me worried, since elk have been introduced into eastern Kentucky and are doing well there.

Mary Anne - they will sorta-kinda jump/step over, and usually tear down the top wire in the process.
They've introduced elk into eastern Kentucky!? Uh oh. Oh, wait, you're not a rancher, are you?
They are a huge nuisance around here - they can destroy a feed stack in the blink of an eye, practically. What they don't eat, they stomp into the ground and urinate on, rendering it useless as feed. We have had to surround our feed supply with 8-foot high page wire to keep them out.
Oops - Carla - thanks for stopping by this morning. As you can perhaps tell from my response to Mary Anne, I am not very impressed with elk right now!
Aww sorry you missed the craft sale, Baggie. Hopefully you'll have more time to add to your wares for the next one.

Sagan - just an ordinary 3-strand barbed wire fence. Lazy elk don't bother to lift themselves high enough to avoid the top wire.
And yes, I should be well stocked for the next sale!

Of course I'm not a rancher--we don't have ranches around here, we have cattle farms. : ) With a guesstimate of four to six acres of pasture and the rest in woods, I won't ever have many, but I do dream of raising a little beef. So far, the elk haven't spread this far west--I'm a hundred miles or so from eastern Kentucky, depending on where you think it starts--but they've only had a few years to establish themselves. The deer are quite destructive enough.

Have to say, none of my weekend stories ever contain the word "elk"..so it's interesting to ME!
