She doesn't have anything completed yet
Geosomin posted a picture on her blog yesterday of a very cool pepper mill, which reminded the Bag Lady of her salt and pepper shaker collection. Years ago, the Bag Lady's aunt gave her the cutest little salt and pepper shaker, which started a trend. For many years, the Bag Lady received salt and pepper shakers for different occasions like birthdays and Christmas. She finally had to put a stop to it because she hates dusting knick-knacks, and she no longer displays her collection. Geosomin's post prompted her to drag out some of her collection. Which, in turn, led her to the realization that she can't find half of them! She cannot remember where she stashed them. ~~sigh~~ (You know you have too much stuff when......) This forgetfulness is really starting to annoy her....after all, it's only been about 10 years since she put them away! How could she have forgotten so soon what she did with them? Sheesh!
So the Bag Lady will be obssessing about that until she finally remembers where she put them, or she will eventually pull her entire house apart until she finds them, or at the very least, until something else distracts her!
In the meantime, she'll work on more crafts and hopefully will soon have some completed and photo-worthy.
Or not.
Now, where the hell did I put my glue gun.....?

I hate when I can't find something I know I have. Even more confusing is when I can clearly see in my mind where the item in question was in my last abode or even where I lived fifteen or twenty years ago, but I can't find it in my current home. How useless is that?
Haha - forgetting where you put something ten years ago isn't so bad! I can't remember where my usb key is since we moved, and it's so tiny that I don't really have much hope of finding it until I completely finish unpacking... and even then?!
laundry schmandry.
feel free to drop it off here as I have SO MUCH PILED UP I wont even notice more...
M.
I have the same problem! What I really hate is when I've made a special effort to put something important aside that I'm going to need soon--and then it disappears entirely! You'd think after this many decades I'd have figured out one place for "important" stuff but I haven't.
You put them away for safekeeping, didn't you?
I do that too. The best trick is to forget about them. Then one day when you're looking for something else you put away for safekeeping you'll find the shaker collection instead.
I came here to leave a comment but I forgot what I was going to say...
BG - oh, I know that feeling!! It's so annoying - I know exactly where the shakers were in my last house!
Christine - and you're so young!! :)
Losing something when you're moving isn't all that uncommon, though. You'll find it when you finish un-packing, I'm sure!
Miz - what was your address....??! (And actually, I exaggerated when I said the laundry was done...it's never really done, is it?)
Crabby - it is rather comforting to know I'm not alone. The rancher and I spent two days last week looking for the instruction book for the grass-seeder. Finally found it in a pile of stuff that I had intended to take out to the shop but had stuck away in a closet instead!
dfLeah - that's usually what happens, alright! Putting things away for safe-keeping is a guarantee you'll never find them again!
Hilary - we were posting at the same time! Glad to hear we're all in the same boat!
I hate it when that happens! And its surprising how often that can happen even in a little condo or apartment, too.
Can't wait to hear all about your crafts:)
Sagan - the "tearing apart" of the house started last night. At least I got part of the porch cleaned....~sigh~
That's ok, a couple months ago I bought a light bulb, specifically for the lamp in the living room in anticipation of the current light bulb burning out...which it did a few weeks later...and now I can't find the freaking light bulb. Not a clue where it went. Every time I go to the store I think: "I should buy another light bulb...No, there is one at home somewhere!" Then I go home and get frustrated because I just can't find it.
df Bag lady,
I don't save stuff and yet I still lose things. It's jsut the way life goes some times.
Terrie
Javachick - I feel your pain! I do that kind of thing all the time!!!
My advice? Buy another light bulb - it's a guarantee that as soon as you do, you'll find the other one! :)
dfTerrie - I'm afraid to throw anything away because I'll forever be thinking that whatever it is I'm currently looking for is something I inadvertently threw away! How crazy is that?!
I know how you feel. Both about the mess, and the not finding stuff.
Tricia - it's a terrible feeling, isn't it?
TEN YEARS AGO? Holy crap Bag Lady, if you could remember accurately from that far back I think it might make you a robot? Plus you remembered half! That is awesome work! I would probably have thrown 'em all out without realising...
Unless I stumble across things I've stored often when looking for other things, I never remember where anything is. I've lost the most awesome pair of boots which are SO on trend, and it's making me spit that I can't find them ANYWHERE! A/W o8 is trickling away and I have a perfectly good pair of boots which will look UNCOOL in six months and I don't know where they are. Seriously. This is the stuff I think about.
I love novelty salt and pepper mills. I have two bunnyheads and you squeeze the ears to get the salt/pepper out!
TA x
TA - It drives me crazy to not remember where I put stuff, no matter how long ago! I know they're in a box..... or maybe a plastic storage container.... ~~sigh~~
I especially wanted to find the very first one I ever received because it makes me think of you! If I ever find it, you'll figure out why when I post the picture.
If I ever find them....*mutter, mutter... maybe they're in the storage shed.... mutter, mutter*....
I love the idea of squeezing bunny ears to get salt and pepper!!! (But don't tell Bunnygirl, she might think it cruel!)
It will either come to you in the middle of the night, or you will stumble upon them when looking for something else. Just don't think hard about it - that never works!
I find I can put something down and forget where it is two seconds later...*sigh*
The santa's workshop description had me laughting out loud. I just got the funniest mental picture of you standing amid a room full of glitter and stickers and half assembled projects. I love it!
Good luck finding the S&P shakers...I have a cute set for thanksgiving and Christmas and that's it for me. I usually just use the cheap ones from the store anyways : )
Missicat - I'm forever losing stuff in that manner - especially my reading glasses! I have 4 or 5 pairs, and they're never where I need them. (And don't even get me started on the hand-held phones...!)
Emily - your vision is exactly right! I'm surrounded by half-finished projects!
I know the feeling. My brother wanted our old light fixture from our dinign area so before the reno I had tucked all the glass parts of it away somewhere "safe" so they wouldn't get broken. Heh...it took me ~3 months, but I finally found all the glass bits last night in the most obscure place imaginable. They were so safe I couldn't find them :)
Geo - I'm glad I'm not alone! (Of course, you realize that I hold you responsible for this latest round of "crazy house searching"!! hehehehehe)
I have a sick way of being able to remember where just about anything is. My pride won't let me get to the point of having so much stuff that I don't know where it all is. :)
(Of course, I just moved a year and a half ago, which helps.)
I remember the days when I could remember where I put things. I just wish I could remember where I put things rather than remember the days when I could remember......~~sigh~~
We live in an anti-knick-knack house.
My mom always comes over and comments on how lovely the 'minimalism' of our place is.
She has knick-knacks EVERYWHERE and after spending my youth dusting them, I swore I would never start a collection!
Santa's workshop sounds like a fun place I want to be right now :)
Ooh is the shaker shaped like a wee rocking guitar? ;0)
Just chipping back in to explain the salt shaker thing over at Mizfit (ooh that ties in nicely!)... it started in an interview with Biggest Loser winner on the Weighting Game and then Charlotte at the Fitness Experiment picked up on it earlier this week... basically Ali (the winner) said that one of the reasons Jillian was SOOOO fab and an example to us all was because she ordered dessert, took one bite and then upended the salt over the rest. Like this was some BRILLIANT dieting strategy.
Yep Jillian, I'm sure a million anorexics agree with you - that's one of the Number One ploys employed by the eating disorderd, and you're advocating it to your infinite fanbase who see you as an example of healthy living and self-respect.
It rattled me! Aside from anything else, if you made Jillian dessert and she did that, wouldn't you wanna punch her?? So wasteful, aside from implying that food is evil and the body's will something to be mistrusted.
Sorry for the rant!
Phew, glad that's off my chest...
TA x
Sarah - I'm with you on the dusting knick-knacks! I love my shaker collection (wherever it may be!) but hate dusting!!
Annette - Christmas will be here before we know it!
TA - I would kill anyone who dumped salt all over something I'd prepared for them! There are other ways to deal with overeating that are much more sensible!
(and no, it's not a guitar.....Gad, I wish I could find it so I could post a picture! You'd laugh your ass off!)
Ha, at least when you look for things, you know you have them somewhere. I'll bet they are in one of the storage sheds....good luck!
Yes, because I never throw anything away, right, sis? :)
Coming back for a test comment--for some reason I can't comment on my own blog and was wondering if it was Blogger generally or our site that's messed up.
Looks like yours is working fine though.
Well, things are looking a little odd here, too...
