So.
The Bag Lady spent a busy Tuesday doing crafts, then bringing tractors and the disk home from the summer pasture. A couple of very good friends took time out from their own busy schedules to give her a hand getting the logs unhooked and the disk hooked up (after much trial and error and a wee bit of cussing), and the chains gathered up! One friend drove the other tractor home, while his wife followed the Bag Lady to make sure she didn't have any trouble! Some friends are definitely worth their weight in gold!
The Bag Lady is hoping to have photos of her crafts to share with you by tomorrow. In the meantime, here is a teaser:
This is a casserole carrier. The Bag Lady is quite enamoured of this, and hopes that other people will be, too. If they aren't, the Bag Lady will be carrying an awful lot of casseroles around, but she'll be doing it with a different carrier everytime! And all of them will be Christmasy!
Have a great day!

I LOVE the carrier (she types pondering what else it could carry since we all know she isnt a casserole maker)!
and that 3rd sentence? those are very good friends, indeed.
and, methinks, shows what a good friend you are. it all flows back to you...
happy hump day.
Miz.
Genius! I've never seen such a thing, are they another Bag Lady invention, or has the Bag Lady appropriated the idea and improved on it with her own fantastic design? I recently endured a car journey with a hot cooking pot on my lap. I will remember to at least wrap it in a tea-towel next time.
TA x
Does it come with adjustable velcro straps to keep the lids on? My lids always seem to pop off...
Miz - happy hump day to you, too. Not sure what else you could use the carrier for - pretty sure the Tornado wouldn't fit...
TA - I cannot claim the glory - I found the pattern in a magazine, but thought it was quite brilliant. And quite simple to make.
Marianne - I don't know if the design of this would help to hold the lids on - I'll have to check! But the adjustable velcro strap idea is very clever.
You're good. You're very good!!
very cool craft!!!! And you have some GREAT friends!!!
I'm with Mizfit--to use one I'd actually have to MAKE a casserole. But for those who do make and take casseroles, what a great idea!
Ok, then I guess we need a quilted wine carrier? LOL
Well done, df Bag Lady. If I was in to carrying food around I would so hire you to make me one of these.
Casserole carrier, what a great idea! Could definitely use one of those. It's so cute!
And that's so nice of your friends to help out like that:)
I think that is a very neat idea. We are forever toting casserole dishes an pots and so on out to pot lucks. I usually end up wrapping them in towels.
Annette - thanks! And yes, they are very good friends!
Crabby - I'm not one for frequently carrying casseroles around, either. But the odd time that I do, one of these would come in handy.
Marianne - great idea! With a freezer pack to keep it cool.
dfLeah - thanks! I would make one for you, too!
Sagan - thanks. I'm still thinking of a way to pay back those friends. Perhaps they'd like a nice casserole.....
Javachick - these are a little handier than towels, methinks. I've always used the towel trick myself.....
Although I make casseroles .. i rarely take them out of the house.. if not I would be definitely demanding one from you :) They are fantastic!
Love the casserole carrier!! I am sure many will be enamored of it - especially during Thanksgiving/Xmas.
Thanks soooooo much for the spices!!! :-)
Sarah - I rarely take casseroles anywhere, but occasionally have to take a hot lunch to the Rancher when he's working in the field....
Missicat - you got them, did you?
Love the carrier. And the friends.
Dear baggie-
That is a super cute notion. I'm a casserole hog myself, but my SIL gave me a beautiful dish with a good recipe book for casseroles that I use all the time. I think a carrier like this would just complete the gift idea.
Very cool, no wait.. very HOT idea! I usually keep a trivet on the table so that I can transfer a hot dish to it, but this would be even better.
Will you be making non-Christmas designs to sell at the craft sale as well? It would be shame to get such limited use out of them.
Tricia - thanks - me, too!! :)
Clare - It certainly would. I wonder if I should post the directions to make them?
Hilary - If I have time, I will make some that are not Christmas-themed. Shall I set one aside for you? :)
Very cute!
If they go over well, might I suggest something cool I saw on TV last night? It was a crockpot with a lockable lid so you could take it places. I'm sure you could come up with some cute way to make something that would do that. Great idea for those potlucks at work or church when you'd like to keep something plugged in.
SB - thanks! I have a really snazzy insulated casserole dish - you can't cook in it, but you transfer your hot food to it and lock the lid. It works well at keeping food hot until you get to your destination.
I think that is a neat idea! It sure would prevent me from being clumsy and dropping my casserole like I've been known to do : )
Emily - you've done that, too?! I'm well-known for my clumsiness!
I don't know if the casserole carrier would necessarily prevent dropping it, but at least it might help contain the mess!! :)
Cool! I like it! Those casserole dishes get so hot and uncomfortable to carry. Neat idea!
Good friends are hard to come by. Those are great holders Sis. They would work to carry cold stuff too, like ice cream cakes, which you want to soften a bit before you cut them.
Thanks, Aleta! I hope other people think it's a good idea, too!
Reb - too true - good friends are rare! And the carrier would work for cold stuff, wouldn't it?
Your cassarole holder reminded me of my grandmother's tea cozy. ;>) Is there still a call for those? If so, I bet you'd make cute tea cozies. I'd buy one. I like crafts that are useful.
still laughing that yer dad was a dentist and you DID give out toothburshes.
I thought that was always urban legend!
(uh about that happening --- not yer dad specifically :))
Conny - I think tea cozies are a great idea, personally! Nothing worse than lukewarm tea! And I'm with you on useful crafts!
Miz - not an urban legend!! Dad used to order them special - they came in little boxes decorated for Halloween!
