Monday Report

The Bag Lady had a busy weekend, painting at her mother-in-law's. She and her sister-in-law painted the living room and hallway this time. The Bag Lady's sister-in-law actually did most of the painting in the living room, and the Bag Lady did the trim in the hallway, and the baseboards everywhere. There are 6 doors in that short little hallway! Two bedroom doors, one bathroom door and three closets. Whew - that's a lot of trim!

The Bag Lady will go back over today to do a few touch-ups and put a cabinet together for the almost completed kitchen/dining area. Her mother-in-law's house is getting quite a make-over, and when it's done, the Bag Lady will share some photos with you. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a lot of "before" photos, but there are a few that will give you a bit of an idea of just how big a change it really is!

In the meantime, she has a couple of photos she took on her way home last night. The days are getting much shorter now - the sun is setting at around 8:30 pm. The moon was up when the Bag Lady headed for home last night, and the sky was streaked with colour:

This was the sunset she encountered as she turned out onto the highway:

Yesterday was the Rancher's birthday, but the Bag Lady didn't see much of him. He was doing some work at their cattle lease during the day, then went straight from there to work, so they will celebrate his birthday another time.

We're 53 degrees north (Sligo was 55) so our days are getting pretty short too. It's also gotten really cold.

I can't wait to see before and after photos! And happy birthday to the Rancher!

Love the sunset pics.
My goodness you did a lot of work. Good for you.
Hope you find the time soon to celebrate the Rancher's big day.

Painting is hard! I did some painting too this weekend, but I just painted around my radiator and even THAT was hard. I bet Bag Lady doesn't get as many drips on the skirting boards as I do!

Hope you and the Rancher manage to celebrate his birthday soon!

Miz - thanks! We've had frost several times since the beginning of Sept., but this week promises to be quite pleasant.
No special plans yet - did the big surprise party a few years ago.

Christine - Sligo was the same as here (55 degrees N), so you would have had the same long summer days we enjoy! Galway is the same as Edmonton, where my sister lives.
I'll try to get the photos posted soon.

dfLeah - thanks. We have done quite a bit over there, but one thing leads to another......
It's looking quite good now.
I'm hoping we can have a wee celebration of the Rancher's birthday soon.

TA - painting IS hard! The actual painting isn't so bad, I find, if you do proper preparation first. And the prep. is the hard part.
(I'll bet you didn't drip very much at all!)
And I just may try your coconut cake recipe for the Rancher!

Crabby - thanks! And I'll pass along your good wishes to the old fella when I see him again!

crazylady - Thanks! Canada is a gorgeous country, and very diverse.
Where are you?
Thanks for stopping by and commenting - glad you like my blog. I'll have to come visit yours, too!

I'm in Ireland... don't advertise it much cause afraid someone I know will find my blog. Silly or what.

Happy Birthday to the Rancher!

I'm so glad that the people I'm renting the apartment from painted it for me. Those are some high ceilings.

So sad that the days are getting shorter!

It's always nice when someone else has done the painting!!
The shorter days are depressing me, too. But our forecast for the next couple of days is for very nice, warm temps, so that's a bit of a consolation.

Beautiful sunset...the sun keeps interfering with our days too. We had grand plans for the evening in the yard involving gardening and such, but it got too dark to quickly (there was a pizza requiring our immediate attention and once we were distracted from all the cheesey goodness the light was nearly gone :) ). Just not used to it yet.

I commiserate with the painting. It's strange tho - I swore I wouldn't want to paint again after all taht, but just last night I was thinking of repainting the bedroom...it's just so rewarding to see the rebirth of a room with a little hard work!
Hope it's going well...

Painting trim (or anything!) is a lot of work but I love doing it cos it looks so nice and clan and bright when it's finished. You're making me feel guilty, my house could do with a lick of fresh paint too.... specially my garage doors, they are a a disgrace!
Happy Birthday to the rancher!

Happy Birthday to the Rancher! Are you going to make him a cake and give him the day off ;)???

Geo - it's funny how that works, isn't it? My brother-in-law and his wife just re-did their entire house. (a few renovations, lots of painting, new flooring, roof, deck, etc.) He keeps saying "but all I wanted was a new front door.....!"

shammickite - I know, I'm starting to think I should be doing this at my house, too!

SB - I know! I can't believe we're half way through September already!

dfTerrie - thanks! I'll pass it along to the old fella. We'll find time to celebrate, I'm sure.

new*me - I probably should bake him a cake, shouldn't I? As to having the day off, he wouldn't take it anyway, probably!

Love the pictures! We also have nice sunsets, but we're too high to get them through the trees. We get them over Giants Stadium.

Melissa - hey, as long as you get to see them!!
