The Cowboy and the Bag Lady hit the road on the weekend to haul some equipment to the town of Slave Lake.
Here are some additional pictures from their journey:
A glimpse of the lake:
A forest fire must have gone through the area this spring:
The pinkish tinge on the burnt trees was possibly from the fire retardant they drop on forest fires:
Here's another glimpse of the lake:
There was quite a lot of wildlife along the roadside:
Loading the equipment they brought back:
There were several mills in the area. This one appeared to be shut down, but the Bag Lady had to take a picture of the slightly phallic-looking burner...
One last glimpse of the lake in the distance on the way back, taken at about 10:30 at night:
Hope you enjoyed the road trip with the Bag Lady and the Cowboy.
(The Bag Lady has been having trouble with her computer, but is going to shut it off in the hopes it will correct itself. If it doesn't she may disappear for awhile.... sigh.)

Loved the road trip. Haven't seen that area since the early 1990s.
The late evening pic is my favourite.
Wow, it sure is light at 10:30!
And I have my fingers crossed for your computer... the old off-and-on trick is the only one I know.
Still limping along....
Don't know what is going on with this computer. Seems slower than when it was on dial-up. Sigh.
Miz - didn't get the push-ups done...had too much other stuff pile up. Today fer shur.
dfLeah - glad you enjoyed the trip.
Crabby - yup, you're coming for the "longest day of the year" partay, right? Unless it's cloudy, it doesn't get totally dark...
Great road trip! When is your longest day of the year party?? Will bring the sangria..
heehee, you said "phallic" :-)
Missicat - Saturday is the first day of summer, so that's the longest day of the year!! I'd love to try your sangria!!
teehee - yes, I did!!! Thought it sounded classier than saying that burner looked like a big dick pointed at the sky! (It did, didn't it?)
Cool pictures!
Here is a link to the tv show I was talking about yesterday- these guys have the coolest job...and most are Canadian. I think the cowboy would definitly be qualified, however, it's a REALLY dangerous job.

Oh yeah, and EVERYONE should order a cart smart bag because I got my yesterday and love, love, love it!
i'm on my way over with my tool-kit. put the beer on ice please and i likey my meat well.
Thanks for taking us with ya on your road trip!
I'm sort of a computer geek. Do you have good spyware programs? Sometimes spyware/adware clog the computer and slows it down. Virus programs like Norton and Mcafee don't find them. Let me know if you need some "free" programs that are offer out there, to help clean them up. :)
Interesting. I had to look up Slave Lake on google maps to get an idea of where you were. Of course, my only real point of reference (that is familiar to me) is Whitehorse because I was there a couple of years ago. I was visiting a friend and we did lots of road-tripping, so your pictures brought back memories.
Nice photos! Some of the trees around here look like that too. But not because of a forest fire. Ours are all destroyed from the canker worms *shudders*.
Emily - thanks for the link. I'll have a look later on. And glad you like your bag!!
Fitarella - beer is iced, everything is ready!! (drumming fingers on desktop) Where IS everybody?!
Maggie - I seriously don't have a clue as to what programs I have or don't have. After the last time I took my computer in to have it worked on and they wiped out EVERYTHING, I'm not sure what I have. My Norton seems to be having issues - it thinks it's still 2006... and I am completely computer illiterate. Sigh.
Javachick - I've never been to Whitehorse. Lots of folks from here drive up there for holidays, and I've heard that the scenery is really nice (except for all the rocks and trees....hehehehehe)
Sagan - a lot of the trees here are looking pretty sick, too, because of the Pine Beetle. And now it looks like there is something eating the poplar leaves - we might have a caterpillar invasion. *shudder* - I hate bugs!
Nice pictures! :)
Thanks, Mark!
Nice trip Sis! I really like that late evening photo.
You'll have to take lots of pictures of your solstice party. Sorry to say, I won't be able to make it.
Fitarella, AB beef doesn't need to be well done ;)
Thanks, Sis. The way it's shaping up, it's just gonna be me....
